Location: Brookfield, WI | Just wanted to take a quick second to say I'm very pleased with my Lakewood Monster tackle box. I've not taken it in a boat yet, as during the learning segments of the plan, I've utilized a gym bag and some clear Planos. I feel the functional utility as a bait storage device is good, but prefer a viewing window as I familiarize myself with the various baits I've acquired during the plan's implementation.
That being said, I today used the Lakewood as a standing platform while cleaning some high cabinets in our laundry room in preparation for a soon to begin remodeling project. The thin walls of the compartmentalized bait hanging interior interlock to provide an amazingly and deceivingly sturdy deck when the box is closed. The texture of the padded exterior material results in a non-slip top and bottom, permitting the user to reach out in all directions without a compromise to safety. The box appears to have been designed to allow a man of average height (I'm 5' 10") to reach up and comfortably perform wife directed tasks at or near the ceiling in a house where that ceiling measures 8'. At the same time, the height is such that one step easily propels a user on to its surface. After several hours of rigorous testing, I feel confident the Lakewood Monster Tackle Box provides a safe and sturdy standing platform for those weighing up to 270 pounds. I also sat on the box today at varying times while sorting items the box had previously and conveniently let me remove from the cabinets. While seated, I could not help but note the aforementioned padded exterior provided considerably more comfort than the little wooden chair I had previously been using for the task.
Thank you Lakewood for offering such a versatile product. Thank you Ebay for enabling me to purchase this home chore helper slightly used at a very reasonable price.
Kevin

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | That's thinking outside the box! I doubt Lakewood had that in mind in their design stages, but sure shows the quality of their boxes. Did you ever come up with any outlandish uses for your golf bag?

| That Lakewood Monster makes a great step ladder for the garage as well as a sure casting platform for the back of the boat when necessary. Once you have it loaded down with lures like I do though, it needs to stay in one place and not help with the remodeling | |

Location: Liberty, IN (OKI Tri-State) | Hey Folks,
This is exactly why I bought my first Lakewood, my second Lakewood .... and my third!! Back-to-back in the belly of the boat ... front or back, depending upon the maker & year, my 6'-200# butt can extend the casting deck/platform ... without worry of COLLAPSE!
Not only can you pack most every "big lure" needed for summer peak to fall Trophy time ... these "Bad Mo FO's WILL float ... completely full of baits up to about 200#s for plenty long enough to circle back, locate and retrieve!! I have done it and have seen it done ... they are second to none in this respect ... IMHO!! They also incorporate a "pedestal strap" that when actualy used, keeps the need for finding out about the aforementioned qualities ... from ever happening!
If any of you know my 'good Bud' Dennis Radloff, these boxes hold his lanky arse up as well and is indeed were I first learned how strong and versatile these "Monsters" are when spending a few days on the water with him several years ago doing a film/ primarily topwater promo project for Mepps.
I currently use mine as storage, both in home and on 'the road' because of my "Boat-less" situation and 'poorest angler on the Trail status ... temporary I assure you! LOL
Heck Folks, I was even using them in my old barge to cover an 80-mile stretch of the Ohio for my pursuit of "other" top-line predators for my regular "Fin-Addict's" column back in-the-day, stripers, 'Big' Cats ... even Gar. These bad boys will last you better than a plywood deck ... and they are 'killer' storage. GOSPEL truth!!
Now if you are lucky enough to have a 'permanent rig', Musky Hunt almost exclusively, and garage keep or have other 'safe boat storage' options ... Dunwright Tackle has some pretty sweet product options you might want to investigate as well. There boxes are not as portable in my opinion, but being able to interchange the tackle sleeves/hangers, are a big advantage for most, IF YOU target these mighty creatures MOst/ALL of the time. Wood-handle carry v. Cloth/plastic-shoulder strap ... the weight is a big factor if portability is an issue and Lakewood wins that battle.... and YOU WILL NOT be standing on the Dunwright boxes.
They float with a full load; they will support a 'casting' 200#-plus angler for many weeks on end (so far), with a ton of upside for versatile long-term storage and (using the multiple colors availabel), coding or bait-type seperations.
Give 'em a try; they are/can be an important part of your overall ability to bring your game 'to the next level'! Of course, a minimumlist's view, few baits; smaller cloth bags that will hod bigger Plano's ... well that is 'what I am doing now' ... or at least trying very hard to do anyway .... wish me LUCK!!

| This is a year old post, but I'm curious if anyone has feedback, good or bad, on using the Lakewood as an extension to the platform. Any cracking or long term side effects? I've heard mixed reviews......seems like a great way to add 12 inches of width. I know I could build one but then it's a matter of where to store it, etc.
Thanks, Chris | |

Location: Park Ridge, Illinois | Having just lost a fully loaded Plano 7915 from the back of my boat, either by theft or from "the perfect bounce" (bump in road + wind speed + cross-wind from truck), I would be cautious here. Even if you strap the boxes down, a thief with a box cutter will ruin your day.
