| EMMERICH AND KASTNER WIN THE WMT INAUGURAL SQUIRREL LAKE TOURNAMENT
On Sunday, June 25th the Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) hosted the last qualifying tournament of the new western region on Squirrel Lake, located just west of Minocqua. Squirrel Lake would not disappoint the tournament anglers as it produced twenty-three legal muskies and set a new WMT record for the most doubles in a one-day event, at seven total doubles.
1st place: Brian Emmerich and Brian Kastner 37” + 40”
2nd place: Clay Schroeder and Mark Lijewski 37 ¼” + 37 ¼”
3rd place: Greg Majka and Ed Spoerl 34 ½” + 39”
4th place: Mark Gillich and Tony Podhora 34” + 39”
5th place: Keith and Ken Krejci 38 ½” + 34 ½”
MAJKA AND SPOERL WIN PIKE/ROUND LAKE CHAIN TOURNAMENT
The Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) visited the Pike/Round Lake Chain on Saturday, June 24th, producing seventeen muskies for the day. The story of the day was severe weather, which caused a delay at the start of the tournament and again in the afternoon, effecting the muskies attitudes and costing the competitors valuable time on the water.
1st place: Greg Majka and Ed Spoerl, 42” + 34 ¾”
2nd place: Bob and Scot Miesbauer 34” + 42 ½”
3rd place: Andy Mann and Kraig Kolka 35 1’4” + 35 ¾”
4th place: Jason Weik and Ryan Miller 34 ¼” + 36 ½”
5th place: Marcus Malyuk and Ben Bain 43 ½”
SCHMOEKER AND VAN ROSSUM WIN WMT’S MINOCQUA QUALIFIER
The Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) finished up the last of the one-day qualifying tournaments for the northern region on Lakes Minocqua and Kawaguesaga on Sunday, June 19th. The muskie fishing would prove to be fast and furious for the full field of contestants with 21 muskies being registered for the event.
1st place: Clay Schmoeker and Mark Van Rossum 45 + 39
2nd place: John Steckel and Randy Machtan 43 ½ + 39 ¾
3rd place: Ryan Bock and Tyler Rutzen 40 ½ + 40 ½
4th place: Mark Lijewski and Clay Schroeder 35 ¼ + 36 ½
5th place: Jon Solberg and Andy Grimm 45 ¼
BOLTON & BARATKA WIN AT MOHAWKSIN
For the sixth year in a row, the WMT made a tour stop on Lake Mohawksin and as usual, the event was memorable, with a lot of exciting muskie action. The tournament, held on Saturday, June 17th, was the tenth qualifier for the WMT and a full field of anglers took advantage of the very cooperative muskies.
1st place: Chuck Bolton and Jason Baratka 36 ½ + 42 ½
2nd place: Steve Schneider and Mike Schneider, 39 ¾ + 38 ½
3rd place: Randy Krohn and Bob Krohn 39 ¼ + 35 ¾
4th place: Evan and Buck Derleth 44
5th place: Mike Bruggink and Bryan Schaeffer 42 ¼
