| Hello,
I would like to hear some feedback from people that use or are familiar with Loomis musky rods. I hear plenty on St. Croix, Figs, Shimano, Pro Edge, Thornes and so on.. But I dont hear much on Loomis. Also, what would be a good model in the Loomis line for WTD surface baits.
Thanks. |

Location: ontario canada - Well Anderson Indiana now | I personally love my g loomis rods. I own the 7'7", 7'0", and 6'6", my wife uses the smaller two and I stick to the 7'7". I would suggest getting the 7'9" model for topwater, I believe it is a lighter action than their 7'10" model.
I have heard alot of great things about fig rig rods too, I think they are lighter which would be nice on a long day.
All in all though g loomis rods are sensitive, extremely durable, and pretty light in weight. My only gripe is cost (which used to seem crazy but now most pro-level musky rods are over $200!) and the fact that their longest is 7'10", really the longer the better I think, expecially since I'm 6'9"! |

| My brother has the 7'9" Bucktail rod and I have fished with it at length to determine a future purchase for myself. I have come to 3 conclusions:
Great rod
Costs too much
I'm not buying it
Seriously I can't take anything away from this rod, it performs flawlessly. However I have 3 Fig Rigs now and the 7'10" Med. Is almost exactly the same and $50 less. I'm getting that one Sunday on the way to Big V.
Good Luck,

| I won a custom Loomis in a raffle, and it is my favorite rod. It's about 8 ft in length. I looked at Diamondback rods, but thought the handle was way too big for my hands. I put the new Record Garcia on my Loomis and it works great. |

| I have used my loomis rods for about 4-5 seasons now and I really like them. It seems some guys think they are heavier than other rods because Loomis uses a fiberglass/graphite mix in their musky blanks. I have used other rods and don't think there is a big difference. I feel the Loomis rods are a bit more industructable with the fiberglass in the blanks. My favorite Loomis is the 7'7" Medium Heavy Bucktail rod. This rod does extreemly well for me as an all purpose stick and I throw everything with it. It is heavy enough for jerkbaits and such but also casts small bucktails very well. If you are looking for a heavy duty magnum bucktail/minowbait rod the 7'10" Ex-Heavy trolling rod makes an excellent casting rod for big baits. The 7'10" is really nice, I do not know why they marketed it is a trolling rod. My two cents anyway....

Location: Palm Coast, FL | I use Loomis rods exclusively. I have never had one break from fishing them. Have had a few eyelets pop out but that is the extent of it. I use them for everything including trolling and I also use the casting rod on a down rigger. These rods by far are the best out there. The lifetime warranty on all their rods manufactured speaks for itself. |

| I use Loomis musky rods. I have 2 MUR914CX-MBs that I use for almost everything. Rated for 1-4 oz lures. They are sensistive and light weight. I pair them up with Calcutta 401TEs. I also have a MUR826 that I use for jerkbaits. Again, paired with a Calcutta 401TE. That handles all of the musky size lures that I throw.

Location: The desert | I've got a Loomis Bucktail rod....absolutely love it. Very light and very comfortable to cast all day long, also works with surface baits. I believe it is a 7' Medium.
