| We've talked about the snap and the blade the vibration, and a lot of mods...
Has anybody actually caught a fish on it? |

| Sounds like that's a resounding "no" across the forum...
Or you guys are all killing them on it and you just don't want anyone to know, right? |

Location: WESTERN WI | I do like the versatility in heavy cover. To be honest I have not thrown it much. I have opted for traditional spinnerbaits, Grinders, Rad Dogs, M/G's for most of the season thus far. I will say that even with reinforcements that have been made, the lip is pretty fragile and may have to be an open water bait soon.

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Glad you brought it up- bought one over the winter, threw it in one of my storage compartments, and totally forgot about it. Will give it a try this weekend. |

Location: WI | Caught a 45" on it this spring on Kinkaid, and lost another decent one with a hit at the boat on it WI opener. I haven't used it much more this season however.

Location: Bloomington, Illinois | I've thrown it for a couple of hours each of four outings and haven't had even a follow...I have to admit I love the way it looks and vibrates...it figure eights nicely also...I'm a little puzzled as to the lack of interest on the part of the muskies.

Location: Michigan | I just picked up two of these things a couple weeks ago which I planned to take with me to Ontario for a pike trip in mid July. But I took one out with me today muskie fishing just to play with it and see if the muskies had any interest.
Well, I found one that was interested... This is what I love about muskie fishing... You never know what is going to happen. We had a cold front go through and we have a high right over head. Not much had happened the first 3 hours of the morning. But then, I was fishing a very healthy cabbage bed in about 10-12 feet of water. I look over about 30 yards and I see what looks like a muskie on the surface, but I really wasn't sure... I threw the chatterbait about 15 feet past what I though was the fish and the thing turns and quickly slams it. I set the hook and the rest is history... About 30 minutes of playing around and already the Chatterbait has a good one to its credit.

Location: Anchorage | My buddy hooked about a 36-38 on one while fishing the June Jam Muskies Inc. tourny. The fish hit and came at the boat. As soon as it turned away, the blade ripped right off the jighead. Not the end of the world, but being the 1st tournament for us that fish would have been very exciting, not to mention it swam away w/the jighead nearly inhaled. To see it fail on the first fish like that was very dissapointing. Great action, lazy construction. You won't see me with one, but it does look like a bait that could be copied and improved. |

man, that sux about that fish...something we'd all hate to see happen.
do a search on here on chatterbait
they can be fixed, and probably better than what the "improvement" will be too..baldy threw a good idea up here and there were a few others too, along with the mods that i posted.
personally, i like things heavy duty, so if you look at the pics, u'll see.
i still worry about the jigeye opening to murphy's law, but i havent come up with any way to recitify it myself.

| Luke Ronnestrand mentioned to me that they were beefing up the Chatterbait a bit. I'm not sure when, but I would think you'd be able to get a stronger version soon. My brother used the Bass version while I threw a spinnerbait on the Bass opener, and he caught twice as many fish as I did. They do seem to work. Good fishing everybody. |

| Had one hit a musky sized one, but have caught smallies, largemouths, walleyes, northerns, and perch on the smaller ones. The musky one has a great feel to it.

Location: Elk River, MN | I have purchased both the original and new versions. The original version has a smaller snap lock (more like walleye / bass fishing). The new one has a much heavier (165lb snap lock) and the hooks are much larger. The trailer hook is also connected a little different than the original. I have a St. Croix med/heavy and a Fig Rig heavy and it is crazy how the action even rattles the heavy rod. Incredible action. |
