Just wondering how the Tuffy boats handle the big water?? Any suggestions on models you might recommend for big waves?? I would only want a tiller version. NO steering wheels for me!

The Esox Deep V series is designed for big water. If you are on the Great Lakes or water that gets as bad as it does out there, I'd recommend the 1890 T or 2060 T. Both are excellent big water boats, and both run well as a tiller.

I have 10 year old triplets.....are those models roomy enough for all of us to be fishing at one time?? I wouldn't be able to only musky fish out of it...would want to walleye, crappie, and bass out of it as well. Is it fairly multipurpose????

go to www.tuffyboats.com and take a look at them on their website and see if they have the features you are looking for. In my opinion you would have enough room to fish with several people, but you need to see if it meets your own needs.

Good luck.

My 1700C will do big water no problem, just not as much room as the other two Steve mentions. I fish a 6000 acre lake that see's 2+ footers and I can handle them easily.

I have an "06" 2060 DS Osprey and it handles the big stuff very well. I use to be jittery about going out in 4 or 5 footers but not any more. IMHO you will love the 2060 tiller model and there will be plenty of room. Highly recommended. Happy boat hunting!

New 1890 looks sweet... if you want a deeper multi-species boat with dry storage, a fast smooth ride I would go find someone with one of these and take a test ride. Nice thing is that I understand you can get it rigged with a 200hp motor and trolling motor and still be right close to $36k.

Guest,

I really am! I spent a lot of time on the water breaking in the new Suzuki last weekend, not much of a chance to fish just yet. I think tonight might be its maiden voyage to get slimed!

I will have to get someone some pictures so they can post them. Mr. Worrall? Is that something you would like to do?

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Steve Worrall for all of his help during this process! I had many questions and he was always right there to lend a helping hand. I purchased my boat from Riverview Marine and Sports in Elk River, MN. If you live in this area I highly recommend stopping in to see the line-up of Tuffy Boats! Talk to Chad and he will help you out! If you are in the market for a new boat I would definitely take a look at Tuffy.

Wkeegoblr,

I have a 1760 Osprey tiller and LOVE IT!!! I fish Lake Superior and other big lakes. It handles the big waves like a dream. I’m in the Duluth, MN/Superior, WI area if you are nearby and would like to try it out E-mail or PM me.

the only "big" water i've tested my new 1760 tiller on so far was on Petenwell in May, but the big lake there will whip up as good as anything. we were running 2-3 footers with the occasional rogue big wave (i also think many people tend to exaggerate wave sizes, so take that for what it's worth), bottom line is that in the troughs the waves were taller than the boat.
the real rub is that we were running north-south through waves moving west-east, definitely a less than ideal angle to take them. we caught a bit of spray from the strong wind, and nicely speared one big wave. however, the boat was SOLID, rode the waves smoothly and tracked straight. another nice feature was being able to tighten the tension nob on the Suzuki tiller so that i didn't have to death-grip the handle to keep things in line.

for me, it's all about confidence - knowing you're safe and in control. the 1760 hull gives it to you.

i'll be fishing some of the big waters in MN over the next couple months, so will report back more later.

Someone had mentioned the 2060 tiller. I have a 2006 2060 tiller with a 140 suzuki and the Tim Mertens tiller steer. This is my third 20 foot Tuffy tiller and it is an awesome boat. I fish quite a lot in Canada and have never worried about 4-6 footers. On the other hand it is just fine for my northern Wisconsin lakes. I will be selling end of summer, e-mail me with questions.
