| I am in the process of getting a new truck...I have owned toacomas in the past liked them but cannot recall if 8 foot rods would fit diagonally in the bed of the truck. The bed is 6 foot. I appreciate any info, as I am looking at both a tacoma and tundra. I would prefer to get the tacoma for everyday use and parking here in NYC, but do want my rods to fit in the bed of the truck..thanks..Ben |

BenR,
An 8ft. rod will not fit, I tried 5 minutes after I drove my Tacoma off the dealership lot and parked in my driveway. I was bummed but it will fit an 8ft. rod inside the cab on an angle. I'm sure it will fit in the bed on a Tundra but I'd rather stick with the 6 cylinder Tacoma over the Tundra's 8 (gas prices). Putting my 8ft. rods in the cab really hasn't been a problem in the past for me, to tell you the truth I feel a little safer while driving and jumping out momentarily for gas, lunch, etc. I have never once regretted buying my Tacoma, pulls my boat fine, lots of room in the double cab for boxes, extra clothes, other equipment. Go with the Tacoma!

| Ben,
I have a 2000 Tundra Ext. Cab. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! It will fit a 7'6" easily, and with a little help an 8' in the bed. Email me if you've got more questions, I couldn't be more happier with mine.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I have a Tundra and I can fit my 7'6 rods diagonal in the bed. I absolutely love my Tundra and wouldn't buy any other truck on the market. It has the highest resale and dependability out there. Good gas milage for a truck to boot and plenty of power to pull my Tuffy. |

| So it is safe to say that 8 footers do not fit in the bed of either truck? I only have to move the boat a few yards to launch it and go to CA twice a year so a v-8 is not neccessary for the most part. Plus parking in NYC a few inches can be important. If the rods won't fit in the tundra it is a pretty easy choice it seems..Ben
On the tacoma are you fitting your rods in a double cab or the extrended cab? Thanks, Ben |

| My 6' Taloma will fit up to a 7' on the diagonal. I love the truck (28 mpg) so my future rod purchases will all be two piece. |

put a quality topper with side access windows and it will do all a suv will do and soooooo much more!! |

You get 28 mpg with your Tacoma!? Is it 2WD? What year? I love my '95 4WD Taco with extended cab, but I've got to have highway driving, a tail wind, and the moon and the planets aligned perfectly to get over 20 mpg. My Taco is the 4-cyl version, not even a V6. Anyway, I've got MPG envy... |

| If you're getting 28 mpg, I need to sell my Chevy v-6 and buy new. Really?? 28 mpg and it can pull more than a canoe? |
