I have a 1989 Tuffy Rampage that is in very good condition... One thing that has happened in the 17 years (I've had it for 3) that this boat has been on the water is that the finish has faded and lost its "shine". Is there anything that I can do to revive the finish a bit? Waxing it helps but it's still a bit cloudy. Does anyone have any tricks or techniques to bring the glass back?

Thanks,

Derek

Find someone who is really good at buffing like a professional detail shop.

Here's the trick:

Buy a buffing wheel or a buffer that's designed for waxing and buffing, usually about $50. Buy the bonnets you will need, I'd say about a dozen. Get three cans of polishing compound, NOT rubbing compound, and start at the front. Apply the compound to the slightly moistened bonnet, and move the wheel the same direction back and forth taking care not to 'sit' on a spot too long. The original finish probably won't be possible, but a good polishing works wonders. Then, buy some 'fiberglass restore' wax at the auto store and repeat, using that wax. After that, rub her down after every trip with a rag and some spray wax, there's lots of those now.
