I am almost finished with this project, I just need to tie up some loose ends. I got some nice replies here, so I thought I'd give you all the first peek. After I get the layout and information exactly how I'd like it, I'll attempt to get funding to pay for the printing. I have no idea how many I'll need. I'll then look at different ways to get this information out. I'll go to Sporting Goods stores, Sports Shows, even door to door if I need to. Anyway, thanks again for all the support. Hope you can see it ok.

Brad, that looks awesome!!!

It needs to be gotten out there bait shops, resorts, gas stations, bars any place people congregate in Musky Country.

I know you’re an At Large Director with Muskies Inc. this is the kind of thing tailor made for all Muskies In. chapters to get behind.

I have been contemplating rejoining Muskies Inc. for the last year or so, really I have just drug my feet and not re-uped. Muskies Inc. getting full force behind spreading this type of info would get me to sign up in a second.

Great job!

Looking good, I agree Muskie Inc should be able to help out at some level with this

Thanks Mike.

You bring up an interesting point, and something I'm debating. Would it be beneficial or detrimental to this brochure to have the Muskies Inc. logo on it?

I'd hate for someone to think "Oh, this is put out by Muskies Inc. just to try to satisfy Walleye guys", and not perceive the information to be genuine. Can you see the quandry I'm in? It's a tough call.

I have three weeks to have a final version to present at my Muskies Inc. Chapter's next meeting. They'll then decide if this is something they'd finance or not. Interestingly enough, I've got a couple e-mails already today from people saying they'd like to see the final draft, then they might try to find funds to support this project. To me, that says a lot.

I'll need to decide whether this project should be a Muskies Inc. project, or a personal project. If anyone has any ideas on this subject, let me know. Thanks.

That’s a tough question regarding the Muskies Inc. logo. It may be best to not have it, not having it doesn’t mean Muskies Inc. still can’t foot some of the printing bill, though they may want to use the logo if they are spending money.

That’s the problem POLITICS screws up everything! People need to work together to do what’s best and have the most positive impact. Even if the logo isn’t on the actual Brochure, Muskeis Inc. can still list it as a project in their accomplishments.

Brad, if it's any help...I work at the Medford Area Chamber of Commerce and we do all of tourism info. for our county as well. If you sent me a copy of the printed brochure, I could make several copies and run them to a few of the sports/bait shops around the area and place them in our office as we have many fishermen come to find info. on certain lakes in the area. Just reply or send me a PM if you're interested at all. I'm more than willing to get this information out to the people around here, as I've grown up with all the "muskies eat all the walleye" attitudes my whole life. Thanks for getting something like this out there.

C & R Musky Club will buy some, or print our own from your file.

Great project.

Does it say anything in regards to panfish too? That seems to be as big of a problem politically in Wisconsin.

Thanks for the great responses guys. I'm thinking that even though my Muskies Inc. Chapter may be taking care of the bill for this project, it might be in everyone's best interests to NOT have their logo posted on there. I'm not entirely decided on that though.

I'm still tweaking it a bit, but anyone who would like a copy e-mailed to them would definitely be welcome to it. I had noted on the back to contact me if extra brochures are needed, but that could be taken out before I sent it.

I also mention that the amount of Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass found in the stomach contents of the sample Muskies was actually LESS than the amount of Walleye found. I think that was about all I had added on that subject, but tonight I planned on looking through the study results further,so I may add another line or two about that. I remember seeing that in one of the study lakes, Yellow Perch accounted for 30% of the Muskies diet. I'm not sure if the Perch fishermen would like to see that figure. Thanks again everybody.

Derrys, Please email me the file whenever it is completed and you have time. I really want to help and get some of this information to the people around here; especially the river-fishers who knock any musky over the head they catch. It makes me sick!
Here's my email address: [email protected]
Thanks again...I look forward to hearing from you.

Brad,

That looks great. I feel very strongly that for the brochure to have the biggest impact that it absolutely should not reference Muskies, Inc. Many that are against muskies would turn there nose the minute they read that any musky organization had a part in the brochure, no matter how clear and accurate the message is. Being a Muskies, Inc. member, I really hope that they can help you out with this and distribute them to get in front of as many people as possible. But any reference towards Muskies, Inc. needs to stay off.

nothing against muskies inc., but i would think it's probably better to not use their logo/name on the front page. MR nailed it as far as politics and agendas... maybe write a line somewhere inside the brochure mentioning that MI supports this pamphlet (if they give permission of course). great job, i know a few shops in illinois here that would take some...

Great idea!

I agree that this is best branded without MI on it.

Ask Worrall if you can brand it with MuskieFIRST? Perhaps he will underwrite some of the printing?

Thanks for all the kind words. I plan on making some minor, final adjustments in the next two days, then it will be ready. I've received some helpfull advice from a few guys, including Larry Ramsell, and I thank them for offering it.

I think it's best to keep this a private thing. It would take months of waiting on Muskies Inc.'s approval, and I'd like to get this info out as soon as possible. I've personally left brochures at three businesses so far, and I'm going to drop off more at some bait shops about an hour from now. I'm also going to go door to door walking my way around one of the local Muskie lakes putting these in mail boxes. It may take me all day, but it needs to be done. I could use the exercise anyway.

As for right now, I'm going Bass fishing tonight and Muskie fishing tomorrow. Wish me luck, and thanks again for all the support.

Brad:

While you too are an International Board member of Muskie's, Inc., this was YOUR project. I believe I can guarantee Hayward MI chapter support (and likely International too in time...fall Board meeting) for printing if needed, WITHOUT having to have the chapter (or International) name on it! It is FAR TOO IMPORTANT to get out to worry about the "politics" muddying the water..."Git 'er done!"

I'm sure you would agree that there is also nothing wrong with other muskie organizations, chambers of commerce, etc., re-printing it on their own and distributing it as well.

GREAT JOB on something that has long been needed!!

Muskie regards,

Brad,

I too would be interested in getting this info to all the local tackle shops in the South Eastern Wisconsin. Please feel free to send me the info and I will be happy to take it from there.

Keep up the good work. You will make a difference will your hard work and time on this brochure.
