I am looking to book a trip to Ontario next summer and would like some of your personal views on Wabigoon. I always hear about how "dirty" the water is, is it just super stained and how far down can you see in it? I like to walleye fish and hear that it is really good there also. Do most of you just fish wabigoon or do you portage to the chain of lakes also? I am also considering Perrault. Any info on this lake would also be appreciated (Clarity, fish size, walleye fishing). Thanks alot!

The Goon is clearing up more and moe every year. One can see a follow no problem, I'd say average is 3'. Clarity depends on wind and rain, too. It's just suspended clay particulate, and the low light penetration makes the shallow bite even better. Walleyes are plentiful, and can be VERY big, Pike too. Bass are good to great, up to 5#. It's a very unique body of water, offering opportunity for trophy fish AND good numbers, all species.
Butler and the other smaller lakes attached are good day trips for all species, and are clear.

Indian Point Camp is the place to stay, good folks and a perfect location no matter the wind. I have a map in camp all marked up, with additional notes from the MuskieFIRST outings there.

Perrault Lake has HUGE muskies but not many of them I believe, walleye fishing should be awesome
