| I don't mean the "your parents must be thieves..." kind, but what line should lady musky fishers use. I'm a little torn b/w my no-stretch braid to help her on the hookset, or some mono to help fight the fish a little more. Her hooksets aren't exactly bone jarring, and she's not the most experienced at fighting fish yet. I think I'll end up with the braid, but just thought I'd poll the experts. |

| Duke,
Perhaps a compromise? 36# Dacron? There is some stretch, so it will help with boatside strikes. Yet it will also slam the hooks home with a less than bone jarring hookset.
Who stole the stars that are in her eyes? I don't know the answer but I think that line originated at the Landshark a long time ago.

| 65lb powerpro. She's not gonna snap it off on a backlash most likely. Coupled with a lighter rod. Works for my girlfriend and mom who are both really inexperienced with baitcasters.
You know what would look better on you than that dress?

| Will2,
What if She doesn't like getting all wet from the Dacron splash, all the good could be lost in just a few short casts.Better give her PowerPro in 80 lb test, lays on the reel good for less backlashes and carries less water back to the reel to get wet.You want her to be happy and enjoy what she is doing, could mean more trips, new boat, etc.Unless you can't live with the fact that she may end up out fishing you! | Mostlymuskies,
I would definately agree with the wetness factor of dacron. Maybe he can get her to wear a white t-shirt?! I don't think Duke could go wrong with what he is currently using (Whiplash?).

| Whiplash is my braid of choice- big difference this year by the way, going from 80 to 100lb. Much better. Thanks for the input fellas- turns out there is more to think about than I first figured, eh [;)] She''s a trooper though, don''t have to worry too much about keeping her interested/comfortable. Still working on that boat thing though |

| I used Musky Master for a long time, then switched to Tuf-Line....so that means that my wife did too. She casts as good as any guy can and though her hooksets don`t rock the boat, she gets the job done. The castability and the ease of untangling over-runs are two big plusses for her liking the switch as well. Beav |

| I use the 65# powerpro myself, and I have a medium-heavy Abu rod. I love the power pro it is excellent for both trolling and casting. It has no memory so it doesn't get all messed up on ya after trolling and for casting it is great, I find that my backlashes are fewer and that they are a lot easier to get out.
And best of all it is super tough, it can endure all a woman has to offer.
