Any info on who is making them overseas and whether the bait works well in the water.

the packaging is marked made in China but emphasizes that it's to Fudally's exact standards.
i know that the delay in their release was related to Fudally insisting that they be just right before selling any of them.

i threw mine for awhile, and it works great. it has two attachment positions, one for jigging and one for jerk/gliding. i found that the action improved when i added a split ring, and then it danced and weaved and rolled all over the place.
great lure.

Um...well, so how 'bout those Oilers, hopue fully they'll pull through tonight!

Er...um...those rubber reef hawgs! I know that they are in a few shops now...has anybody played with them? If the picture on the Fudally sight is right, then it could be AWESOME. Supposedly they have both the 6 and 8s being made. Anybody know any more about color patters available?

Yes, the Twists are available. They are the same price as the 6" and 8" Reef Hawgs. The 6" is actually 12" from nose to tail and the 8" is 16". They come with triple coil split rings and have 5/0 774 Eagle Claws on the 6" and 7/0 3551 Mustads on the 8"

Colors are:
black
perch (white belly/chart sides and tail/green back and bars)
walleye (rootbeer-gold glitter/pearl belly)
sucker (white belly and tail/red side/black back and bars)
fire and ice (black body/chart tail/chart head with an orange nose)
flame (orange belly/chart glitter side/black back/chart tail

They are NOT a Bull Dawg like some people have thought. They are MUCH slower working and have more wobble/action. On a slow to medium speed retrieve they have a very pronounced wobble. The head stays in place but the tail rocks the midde of the bait back and forth giving the bait a lot of roll/flash.

To 'walk' the bait, the best thing to do is just snap the reel handle over and pause. Most people jerk them too hard and they will flip over. They are a slower sinking bait and can easily be worked over structures by keeping your rod tip up.

Sounds more like a Squirko then a Bulldawg to me.

Yes, and the Squiko is basically a copied Reef Hawg so we have come full circle.

And the Reef Hawg is a copy of a bait from Pfeiffer Tackle that was made in the 1920’s

How is the Squirko a copy of the Reefhawg? The squriko sinks, is made from sold plastic, has a rubber tail, and has a completely different action. The only similarity is that it has the cut lip, but what about the Sledge? The Reefhawg is just a modified Eddie bait really.

I do have a quick question about them for those who do own one, how soft is the plastic?

I only saw them at the Chi town show, and it seems pretty durable. The plastic is pretty soft, but it's a thick hunk of plastic. Harder than a dawg.

Actually, the Jerko is a Reef Hawg in plastic. Then came the Squirko, and then the Reefer Twist.

Is it made out of the same kind of rubber as a Kill'r eel?

Troy -

I dont think it is the same as the eel. Looks more durable than a dawg, but not as hard as the delong stuff

Outside of DeLong, there are very few American made hand poured musky baits. I'm glad to see musky anglers concerned about originals and origins. You don't see bass or walleye anglers supporting small, originating companies. Knock offs everywhere.

i ordered mine on monday from thorne bros and received them today. the 8" is about 14" w/ the tail. the bodies are definetly heavier than the bulldawgs. thanks to whoever suggested adding split ring to them, i did that right away. can't wait to use them as soon as i find some time to get on the water. 2weeks into the season and haven't had time to fish yet. not looking good until after memorial day now with work, family, etc!!
