Location: Pewaukee, WI | Show up and be heard! Tuesday May 16th, 7:pm at Pewaukee High School.
Once again the Pewaukee Lake Improvemnet Association has applied to the Wisconsin DNR for
permits to apply the chemical Navigate (aka 2,4D) in the lake. There will be an informational meeting held on the above date at Pewaukee High School, so called experts will be speaking
about the invasive weed treatment planned for the lake. If you are concearned at all about this
issue, Tuesday May 16th would be the day to show up in force and have your voices heard.
PLEASE MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO ATTEND THIS MEETING IF YOU ARE AT ALL ABLE TO DO SO.
The PLIA tried to sell this idea a few years back because the milfoil was creating "navigational issues" on the shallow east end of the lake. But from the information I have seen they are planning on treating areas in the west end of the lake from shore to 150 feet out from shore this year, an area were navigational issues do not exsist. They feel it will greatly improve the usefulness of shoreline areas and increase the value of their lakefront properties. I didn't realize that they own the water, or so they think. The house that I rent and live in on the west end of Pewaukee Lake has doubled in price in the last four years, I guess an increase like that isn't enough for the PLIA. This meeting will provide an opportunity to listen to the information provided and ask questions, fair enough! The Wisconsin DNR will be present. Please attend and voice your opinion.

| If you are able to attend the meeting please do so. They have had much time to do their homework so be prepared! Below is a link that you can read as a refresher, please read it so it will bring you back up to speed on what they have said in the past.
I will bet that everything is in place to go ahead with the treatments VERY soon.
What I found out at these "meetings" is that it can be more of a "this is what we are doing type of meeting." The PLIA are NOT EXPERTS and don't know nor care about the long term effects of the treatments regardless of what they claim. The DNR has probable already issued the permits and THEY are the ones to question, NOT the PLIA master plan guys.
The DNR can pull permits at any time if the public opposes or if the PLIA doesn't conform to the plan in all ways. I am familiar with the Oak Creek Power Plant doings and know that the DNR can shut it down if things are not followed exactly or if issues arise. If you have concerns about Pewaukee Lake or if you think that the monitering of chemicals, wind, waterflow, water temps, fish and their habitats, wildlife, migratory birds, etc. needs to be watched and monitered very closely while the application is underway, bring that to the DNR's attention. The PLIA would have to change their "Master Plan" and would have to go buy monitering equipment which could prove costly, then it might get too expensive to treat?
As of now, I am unable to attend this meeting.
Please attend if possible and voice your concerns!

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | If you guys can attend this meeting, please do. The more voices that are out there opposing this proposal the more likely that the DNR will step in and deny their application. Does anyone remember what happened last time? I thought it went to a public hearing and by the time that was said and done the water temps were too high to do any of the spraying. Did the DNR ever just flat out deny the app? The PLIA just keeps trying to fly this one in under the radar and hopefully we can get the plan denied for good. It would be too bad if this was something that keeps coming up every other year. |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Last year the treatment did get done on the North East shoreline. I watched them do it the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
The weeds did die and grew back in August.
Why do this if they grow back anyway?
Everyone who likes the lake and cares about the fishory should attend. It will not take long to make a point.
I am sure plenty of the supporter will be there to voice their opinions as to why it needs to be treated. WE need to ask questions and get answers so the people in support of this will learn the bad side of this treatment.
POISON KILLS there is not question about that. What does it all kill is my question!!!

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I just got back from a meeting with Sanks. He gave me a hand out that was distributed all around the lake area. This was a pro-poison letter that tells one side of the story.
I have seen the results first hand last year and now this Spring. Everywhere they put the poison it grew back like it was never done. IS THE POISON all gone or is it in the mud?
Why not cut the weeds and then cut them again later in the year. The resluts were the same with no poison.
This is a must go to all who support the Pewaukee Lake fishory.
Please take this serious. Plenty of people are being snowballed into believing it's all ok to do this because it says so in the letter.
If this is ok, then why is the results not posted for every one to read. This is nonfishermen who want to have the water in front of thier house clean. They don't care about the enviroment or the fish. Just the resale value of the property.
I hope they will all be at the meeting and listen to the questions we are going to ask. I hope the answers are true and honest.
I have seen the results and it's not the way to get rid of the milfoil. This is by far the least amount of milfoil in the lake the last two years and CHEMICAL BOB is working to get this done so it look like they did there job. Honestly, the lake is improveing every year. Lets see if it continues to do so with the fertilizer restrictions and septic systems all going away.
Help keep Pewaukee Lake clean and poison free. Join us and help stop this.

| Look at the RISK PHRASES of these chemicals and tell me that you would feel safe eating panfish and other fish that come out of Pewaukee!
Carcinogen = Cancer causing
There are many other RISK factors which you can look up on these sheets.
DON'T let them tell you this is safe! |
