Zach, Steve...What's up with this picture download

I try to download pictures and it does not work. The only file that will be downloaded is "download.htm" and not the image file I thought I was getting.

The dialog box says this:

Download File Warning

Warning, you are downloading a file that could contain potentially harmful data. This bulletin board system is not responsible for the content of the file you are about to download.

If you do not wish to download this file, click the "cancel" button near the bottom of this dialog. If you wish to download this file, click the "next" button near the bottom of this dialog.

Yet there is no "next" button that I can see. The only buttons are:
cancel, download and return.

What am I doing wrong?

The reason I put this on the board vs. email privately is because I thought maybe others were experiencing the same problem.

Thanks,
Jono

I just clicked on download and it downloaded but the picture I got was all broken up and I couldn't make anything out of it. Maybe its one of those pictures you have to stare at for hours to figure out what it really is?? I'll give that a try.

Zach and Steve, I dug a little deeper and this is what is happening to me.

When I click the download button the download box opens (as it should) with "save to disc" the default value. If I click "OK", the Save As box shows that download.htm is the file that will be down loaded.

If, when the download dialog box opens, I change the radio button to open from location and click OK (which cycles the download box back to the "save to disk" default) then click OK again, the proper file name is displayed in the "Save As" box and is downloaded successfully.

What the heck is up with that? Is this a local thing or a system thing.

Thanks again,
Jono

I can see I'm going to have to rework the image download thing, I guess I made it too confusing. I've had alot of negative feedback about this one. It was originally built the way it is to:

a. exchange all sorts of files, not just images
b. to protect you from uploaded viruses
c. to prevent the forced viewing of images in a post when someone uploads a poorly formatted image, or too large of a file, etc. like Worrall did

What I'll do on the next version is just have the image open in a new browser window or something to just keep it simple. No download prompts etc. One click to open.

As for steve's uploaded image, as soon as I teach him how to use the cupholder and the footpedal for the computer, I'll teach him how to resize an image and save it as a jpg instead of a tif - hehe. At least he can catch muskies.

Funny....I've had nothing but trouble opening other ones, but this opened right away. What is tif vs jpeg?

Hit the download button, and another box should come up that gives you the choice of saving the file to disc, or running it from it's current location. Choose to run it from it's current location(and may take two tries)and download away.

Any ideas as to why I can download the files but the image is all goofy. Looks like someone took scissors to the picture and its all green. Must be something on my end if others can view it ok? Any help is greatly appreciated

Cindi, maybe try to download again. Perhaps the download was corrupted?
