Dad looked at a 1994 Ranger Fisherman yesterday. It has been modified by Ranger from tiller to console(Was George Langleys old boat), is 17'10"(I beleive) and is in 'good' condition with the carpet and interior in very good cond. It has a 1994 Evinrude 70 HP that has 10 hours on a new power head. He blew the other one after the oil pump unit failed. I notice that it has a separate oil tank. I beleive it is priced at $8,800.00 right now, and dad and I are just wondering what some feel this rig is worth. I am not sure what the blue book says(will need to check today) and it has some older electronics and no trolling motor(no big deal). If anyone has any recent experience with selling/buying one of these rigs, please advise. Someone told my dad that it is a screaming deal, but not so sure...

Thanks in advance!

Reef,

A lot of variables, but here's my take:

Checking the NADA guides for my KY zip code, and for argument's sake saying this is now a model 690C (18') with an Evinrude E70ELER, I added an onboard triple 10 amp charger, fish finder at 1000' max depth, power trim/tilt, and fuel injection (assuming the rebuild is still using VRO). This config supposedly includes trailer, trolling motor, and depth finder by default. The low value of boat is $4400 and Avg Retail is $4970. Add the motor at $915 or $1090 and you get totals of $5315 - $6060.

I wouldn't say $8800 is an awesome deal, depending on what electronics or other goodies are on it. I'd probably look at newer used Esox Mags at a little more money, or offer something near $6K if you like the Fisherman setup. Just my opinion without knowing the situation. Any experts are welcome to correct me...
