Location: Green Bay | Was wondering if anyone has any info on the river from Dubay to Point dams. Is the water up and muddy? Planning on pike fishing it next month along with musky fishing after the opener. I know there are some large musky in that part of the river. Any info would be great, thanks |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Fishing has been slow here, but lots of my buddies are catching muskies by MISTAKE, (just want that to be clear) while walleye fishing. Water levels have been stabilizing and current has slowed a little. I haven't been out on the river in over a week so I couldn't tell you if it's muddier at all, but that usually stays pretty consistant, from what I've seen. |

Location: Green Bay | Thank you. Its been awhile since Ive been on the river. I hear they have those new boat launches on the HWY 10 site. Look forward to using them next weekend. Is "Bahammas" still there for my kind of "shore lunch"? I think it was called Bahammas, like a bar/grill you can get to right from the river.
Thanks |

| The river is running a touch on the low side, which is rare for this time of year. Bahama's is still there and is as good as ever.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I agree the river is a bit lower than usual for this time of year. It has been very dry. As for clarity it's Point Bock as usual. I'll give you more info tomorrow as I will be fishing the Point flowage for smallies and eyes during the afternoon. Early season for muskie I would concentrate on the flats adjacent to the deeper river channel. Stumps an timber are always a good choice too. I fish almost entirely topwater on this stretch of the river. Sweet name by the way. |

| Lidocaine - Point Flowage does hold some large musky. But it is a low density fishery. Be prepared to spend ALOT of time on this water to locate musky haunts.
There seems to be a much higher population south of Point flowage between the dams and in the Biron Flowage.
I second topwater advice of Medic. But have personally taken my largest fish on cranks along the channel. |

| The Point Flowage is easiest to fish in May and June. Throw bucktails and you'll contact fish.
Best thing about the River below the Point Dam is that the season opens earlier than north of Hwy 10!!!!

Location: Green Bay | Thanks for all the info. I grew up in Point so I have fished the river many times. I look forward to alot more fishing there since I just got my first boat this spring. Traveling from Green Bay to the Point area for fishing is so worth the two hour trip. I have had luck fishing bucktails and large rapallas next to the channel near HWY 10 boat launch. Have not tried any backwater areas this early in the year.
Medic-I do like the name Lidocaine, I am also a paramedic. I used to be volunteer firefighter for Whiting before I moved out here as well.
I hope to be on Biron Flowage for the opener. Caught nice musky out of there in Oct. 2004. Thanks again for info. |

| I concur with what has been said...low density but with big fish possibilities, also the time investment can be high. But just when you swear there aren't any in the Point flowage you'll contact 4 in about 30 minutes, then nothing for days. Eventhough I've run into them on the river already this year my best success is in the fall.

Location: north central wisconsin | The Point Club(12 Apostles Musky Club) has been stocking the flowage for years(they have data records if you'd like to see them..). Great club that has propped that areas fishery from very little, and I am proud to say I am a member. The flowage actually has a better population than some think, but there are alot more Musky type spots than the rivery stretches below where fish have a tendancy to stack up giving the perception of a higher pop. The fish are quite spread out in the flowage by opener, making it seem much lower density. Some fellas are doing well there, and have some good patterns locked. I live down the, road, and fish it 8 or 10 times oper season, and would concur that fall is best, but the time around opener(closed till memorial weekend) can be good if we have any water, which we haven't for about 3 years. We need rain all over the state, but the WI River is in dire need of a good washing!!!
If you are living in Green Bay, you might try your backyard around the northern opener........ I know I will be.

Location: Green Bay | Dont know if I want to take the boat out on the bay. Smaller boat (only 17') Made the mistake once in another boat and will never again. Not worth it. If I had the right boat for the bay I would be out there trolling for monsters in the 40-50' depths. You know theres a 70lber lurking out there somewhere!!!!! |

| There is of course the Fox River there and a couple others.
Back to the Point Flowage, does anyone have any luck up near Lakeside Bar or Haymeadow Creek area? Or the stump fields across from there?
