| Even though I make my own, HR Shakers put more fish in the boat for me every year.
Especially the older ones that I strip and repaint

Location: Des Moines IA | Can't beat a 99 or 2000 Shaker. Beav's parka kicks butt too, especially in shallower water, but there is something about an old shaker. Can't explain it. |

Location: Marshfield, WI | I voted for the Smuttly Dawg. It is the only one I have caught a fish on, so I had to vote for that. I do like Hounders. I've seen some nice fish on them in lakes not known for really big fish.

I agree with the above statements. Yes...some great ones listed above...but some great ones haven't made the list either. |

The shaker I have ,from 2000 , is slimmer that the newer ones and is my second favorite HR's after an even older 8" pointy nose. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | The other day, I finally got to try out my Shane West Timberwolf in Nemo color pattern that I picked up at the Muskie Madness Show. ............- AWWWWWWWesomeeeeeeeee! The only glider I've seen other than an Alien that will predictablly do a 270 deg. turn (using a 80lb flouro leader). Veryyyyyyyy easy glider to work. That bait is definitely getting some water time this year. Now that's really a honest testament from someone who usually fishes exclusively with their own company lures.
Shane you have created a real winner!
Have fun!

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I couldn't vote, I don't throw a ton of glide baits. I've only thrown one of those listed, the Hughes. In my opinion it doesn't come close to the action of the X-Glide made by H2O.

Location: Presque Isle Wisconsin | The orignally made Hughes River Shaker(of the list you put up) is an absolute killer. The PROBLEM is that most people retreive it wrongly in warm water situations.Whether you like the manufacture or not it still has not been matched in fish catching ability(IMHO )
The only recent bait that I have tested and have that much faith in is not a true glider by any means ,but a hybrid crank/jerk/glide is the CRANKY NITRO by H20.Some serious thought went into this bait and the action is righttous to say the least |

Location: Nekoosa, WI | In no particular order:
HR shaker. Btw, 7 islands, I guess you're not gonna share your secret retrieve with everybody. lol
Beav's 10" castor, Beav, ya gotta make some more of these. In black.
Jed Volkman's 8" turmoils and 6" beerbellies, built like a tank. They catch fish too.
Ben-E Bait, very underrated, more of a darter than a glider, sinks fast though, best over deep cover.
Danczyk's, quality baits, haven't given them enough time yet.
Smuttly dogs, very similar to the amma bamma, but IMO better action
Amma Bamma, traded both I had away.
Novak, Threw one for about 2 hours, and the paint cracked and fell off. Any body want it?

| Well, I like em all. Of the group listed I voted for Smuttly. Really nice baits. Haven't had a chance to try a couple on that list yet.
Another drop belly I like a lot is the Slidin' Shad from Musky Magic. Very nice bait that is easy to work and doesn't weigh as much as some of the others. |
|
|
|
| I haven't used them all yet, but have explored the deadhead, blitzin shad, Cobbs, and dancin shad. Got bites on all of them and have to agree that the deadhead does have more belly roll than the others, and I am soon to own a 2001 HR shaker, but thus far, I am unimpressed with the number of biters vs the number of lookers for any of these baits. I still question anybody using a glider as a primary bait and the HR is going to be the last one I test. I get more bites on pull baits. |

Location: north central wisconsin | You missed some of the best out there. My personal fav. the H2O Nitro, is a true drop belly with one of the most unique actions, and rolls around. I like that it is not a perfect glider, or turn bait which many today are(just go back and forth with the rear of the lure staying stationary). I'd put the old Bagley small B Flat right up there, as well as Greg Thems new Muskiebaitsonline gliders. Otherwise, nice list, with lots of options.
