Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Chico- you might be right- you know how the female's of the human species always seem to have to hang out together, even going to the john when you're out on a date w/ another couple (pre-sexual activity). Maybe muskies have a similar prediliction as the urge to spawn comes on!
Nice photo-
Have fun!

Location: Des Moines IA | Totally cool picture. I am curious as to what size a female is big enough to start reproducing? Is it age? Or size that triggers reproduction? |

MuskieMike,
Muskies normally reach spawning age after 3 years ~ about 35 inches in length here in Illinois.
I can't speak for other states. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | How do you guys know that they are Leech Lake strain???????
Did you know that Mlle Lacs was planted with muskies from WI's Kallepp's Fish Farm? They took eggs from Lac Courte Oreilles and this stocking took place from 1984 thru 1987.
I read this in the latest WI Outdoor News in an article by Dean Bortz called "On the Trail"

| Just talked to the person that took the picture as i was curious about the size because the fish looked so thick.
Both of those buggers are 48 plus. Figured from the thickness that they were longer than they look in the picture. #*^@ , i wish the season was underway.... |

Location: Maple Grove, MN | Seems those two could be a female and a male. Males can get up to 45 inches and that could be about the size of the two fish. It could just be an older male with a middle-age female. Not that unusual in the human species of course, except the older male human usually needs lots of money to attract a younger female. Or at least must be a good cook and house cleaner.
Awesome picture! |

| How big are those rocks in the background?
Since that is Mille Lacs, and those are MN Muskies, I am guessing they are the size of a VW Bug, and those fish are somewhere in the neighborhood of 32 feet long...

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Male muskies can get bigger than you may think. There's a Minnesota lake that has had muskies for less than 20 years. The DNR netted a male musky out there this spring that was just a hair under 48". This is probably pretty close to as big as you'll see. But they can get big too!

Location: Maple Grove, MN | A 52 inch male Muskie? Wow! That is huge for a male. Makes one wonder how big the females are in that river. |
|

|
| 52 is huge for any muskie!! a male?? that'd be a freak right??
In response to Hulbert
Indeed the "Yeti" could have been tried.
I would have tried a stungun on a broomhandle though. |
