I'm mainly a dog days of summer and October Musky hunter. Can anyone suggest great early May muskie locations in WI for son and I to get some early season fishing in ???

If you are looking to EARLY may fish, you need to go to the southern half of the state due to the closed season in the north, which in turn cuts down the lakes to fish by about 96.2735 %. You in turn will have to fish with 86%of the musky fisherman

well, northern zone muskie fishing opens may 27th, so if you plan on going before that, you need to fish southern zone waters. If you plan on fishing opening weekend, you can avoid some pressure by heading up to some not so well known lakes. If you plan on hitting any big name waters, well, you'll probably have some company. Do a little research on some action lakes the are somewhat shallower and contain decent weeds. Youll find fish.

Where are you located and how far are you willing to go?

I would be glad to help you out in any way I can. Maybe mark a map or point out the best baits to start with for early season.

Pewaukee Lake is open to fish muskies on May 6th-The Southern Opener.

I like the Mad Chain in May, but try to make it on a weekday, its a zoo on the weekends. I'm partial to Waubesa myself, but i don't think it has as much potential as some of the other lakes in the chain.

Then obviously, Pewaukee has one of the greatest numbers of fish per acre in the state, so thats always a good one to start at.

Lawrance, you've been walleye fishing on Petenwell, no better place than that to start! Redstone by LaValle, Lake Wisconsin in the upper streatches, Twin Valleye in Govenor Dodge State Park, the Madison Chain (Wingra with the other 250 boats that will be out there sometime during the opener), Swan, Mason, Potters Flowage, The Baraboo River, the Black River, Lake Arbutis and a thousand others.
