not-so-random thought:

under similar conditions, same water temps...
Adam Oberfoell's big fish was caught Saturday at 2:30pm. moon rise in Iowa was ~3:00pm.
Joel Michel's big fish was caught Sunday around 3:00pm. moon rise in Illinois was ~3:40pm.

are you a believer?

you bet I'm a believer...been fishing too long to see things happen at moonrise and set for it to be a just a coincedence..Adams was less than 25 min. to moon rise...
anyone that isn't on a great spot at moonrise/set or back on a big fish at those times is missing some golden opportunities ....

I will definately be paying much more attention to the solunar tables this season. I'm just jacked up with all the stuff I have learned on here for this upcoming "first true season" of musky fishing!!

I believe it has some merit, but I fish whenever I can, regardless of the Lunar influence. I knew a guy who was really big into Bass fishing and didn't leave the house to fish unless the moon phase was right. To me that was just taking it too far. I have two Sundays and a couple Wednesdays a month open to go fishing, so I go. I pay no attention to the moon phase, and just try to do my best in the amount of time I have. Good luck everyone.

Hey, what happened to that moonrise that would influence me? I suppose that picture was to explicit for this site. But I to would have to agree that a moonrise like the one that was posted would DEFINITELY affect my fishing time! LOL

Total believer here. I bought a Casio Pathfinder watch, which will determine those peak periods any future day I enter. Amazing. Theedz, I think, taught me about this watch.

No reason not to check the lunar times when you are on the water. If one can't get out when there will be a specific phase that's to bad but you have to at least check the times and head for a big fish spot. Going on a 15 minute run across the lake or eating lunch during a lunar phase is never a good idea!

100% for sure.

I like to keep some records and it really shows how these feeding times occur during moon rise, moon set, etc....

Just the other day, we had 6 fish up, 2 caught with 8 minutes on the plus and negative side of moon rise. We saw 8 fish all day....

Same thing as Mike. 15 years of records. Also, caught fish, and my largest fish, outside of any solunar influence. Steve VanLieshout says it; Best time to Muskie Fish? When you can. Only Rule? There are no rules.

I was looking at my fish pictures a while back and its AMAZING how many of them show the moon just over the horizon in the picture. I don't have moon data in my older logs, but I did lose my biggest fish at 7:04am July 6, 2005

Im a believer, but I usually find anyone connected to the fishing trade says there is nothing in it, why? well they want you to believe big fish can be caught at at any time and not a couple of times a month.

I'm a non-believer.
If weather conditions suck and the moon phase is right, I'd put my money on good weather conditions outside of any lunar influence anytime.
The best time to fish is when you have good conditions and the fish are hungry.
My opinion.

I agree with Mr. Worral and Mr. VanLieshout. If my wife would only buy shoes on full moon phases, we would be alot richer and I would own more baits. I have to go along with my wife's shoe shopping habits-fish any day that ends in "Y".

Big believer in the lunar influences, even on tough days it seems most action will occur in one of these windows. But also agree that weather conditions have another big influence, and when these conditions line up look out. I plan trips around lunar event on big fish water, that might also exist during cisco spawn, and hope that the second or third influence of weather will bless me with great opportunity. But I will not stay home just because the lunar cycle is not there, fish when I can and try to plan.

Although I believe that you should fish anytime you get a chance, moon rise and moon set are definate feeding windows that should be taken advantage of if at all possible. I do however believe that certain conditions improve the actual rise/set. A moonrise that occurs right at or just before or after sunset is great, as is first light. Another key time is pre-frontal conditions with a rise happening at the same time. This absolutly drives the fish bonkers. I caught two really nice fish last season on back to back days last year during the full moon period in June. The first day was a 5 fish day with a mid 30 lb. fish being the highlight of the day. The very next evening, with only a couple of hours to fish in the evening, I pulled into the same spot and boated a 48 incher that went in the low 30 lb. class. I AM A BELIEVER IN THE INFLUENCES THE MOON HAS TO OFFER! Combine it with sunset/sunrise and/or frontal conditions, and you are but just a step from heaven! I believe Lambeau has seen the pictures of those fish I mentioned, and I'll post a few later. Jason Bovee
