Location: algonquin Illinois | Anybody know where I can buy berckley cross-loc snaps and ball bearing swivels in bulk. Getting them 2 or 3 at a time at the muskie shops seems a little expensive. |

| I agree with the Muskie Nut. If I'm going to be using a lure for quite a while, or if I've got three or four rods in the boat with different lures on, I split ring. I've cut snaps off of store bought leaders before, but at some of our chapter meetings, we make leaders. I just have them leave the snap off. Hi Gerard. |

| If you really want to stay with snaps, the only ones to use are Stringease.
Stringease Tackle
These snaps are positive lock and I have not had one fail.

Location: Yahara River Chain | Also on many baits that don't rotate, I will not even place a ball bearing on the leader, just a loop at each end. You wouldn't believe how much more action I get on a jackpot doing this. Drive them muskes wild.

| If I do use a snap, it is a Stringease. Those are what our MI Chapter puts on the leaders we make, and I have yet to hear from ANYONE that they've failed. They have been somewhat hard to find at times though.
Gerard, it's still a bit wet here, but nobody lost their house. The city of Breckenridge, MN spent millions to divert the waters from the river away from town. It worked.

| yeah stay away from crosslocks, but if you still want a snap, try a stingease staylock snap, you will be glad you did, they don't open even when you want them too.

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | If you want the stay-loc snaps with ball bearing swivels on them, go to cabelas...they are sampo swivels but they are just as tough. I bought a dozen a while back and it was like $30 or so for them.

Location: Yahara River Chain | A Cabela's has ball bearings with welded ring for $10 per dozen. They work great.
BradW at this time its no to the fall meeting, but that could change. You going to take me fishing????? I trade my white cane for a graphite rod when I get in the boat!

Location: oswego, il | I am going to disagree a bit here. While, I am not a fan of the berkely snap, stamina does sell a harder wire snap that is the same. I find that style of snap to have less failures than do the roscoe style or the stringease. The stringease seem to be a lighter wire and don't open but have seen them straighten completely out. The roscoe style seems to open but the "berkely" style does not. |

Location: In the slop! | Todd, try the size 5 Stringease. You won't have any problem with them straighenting out. I think they are around $10 for 25 at Thorne's. |

Location: oswego, il | Sledge, the ones I seen straighten were the big ones. The design of them is perfect, I think they need a heavier wire. Actually another thing they can do is make the loop press against the wire, that would keep the snap from opening at all and if it did straighten, still keep it intact at each end. |
