Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I was told to use a special soap in the wash machine to clean the pores out of the goretex. I would think spraying it would clog the pores and negate the breathing of the goretex. |

Location: IN | I threw out the empty bottle of the stuff I used and can't recall the name of it. So I can't help you there. But depending on the type of fabric on the outer shell it's preferable to spray it. Some fabrics they use on the outer liner, (in my experience the soft fleece like material on the hunting patterns), will hold a ton of water. While you might not actually get wet, you will get bogged down and still get that soggy feeling. The garment will become quite heavy. And it becomes miserable in cold weather. The waterproofing spray helps repel some of the rain and keeps it from soaking into the outer shell fabric. Some of the fabrics I noticed they are using on some of the styles now look like they will do a much better job at shedding the water. |

| I agree with Jo Musky. I have heard if you spray Gore Tex, or any other "breathable" fabric, like Tech20, you are just clogging the pores and defeating the purpose the of the breathable fabric.
It's gonna be waterproof either way. |
