I know too much rain typically results in high muddy water...but does anyone focus in on the creek mouths/channels after a rain storm passes through? Are the muskies seeking warmer water or are they just following the shad into the shallows?

Dude, I would have to say yes to BOTH, but I suspect it has more to do with them following the baitfish because the baitfish are there feeding on everything that's washing into the reservoir from the channels.

Though I've not experienced this with muskies, I have a few spots like this on my favorite lake that are almost guaranteed to get you fish after fish after fish following a storm. They stage just outside the current breaks from the water flowing in and just smash any bait you throw in there...

Sponge might remember, a few years ago at the cave, we had a massive storm just before the muskiefirst crew rolled in. The water was very high and very muddy, like coffe with creamer in it. The only clear water was at the creek mouths. Unfortunatly the clear water running in was also very cold. All the fish caught that week were caught in the warmest water to be found, above flooded asphalt parking lots and walking paths, except for one 28'' caught at 30ft trolling.

One interesting note, I've been told that with southern reservoir fish, when it starts raining good & hard, forget the fishing and go home, they just don't seem to bite in the rain. Anyone have good examples or counter-arguments to that? m
