Other than the case being a lighter shade of gray, can anyone tell me the difference (other than price) between the Eagle FishElite 642c and the Lowrance 334c?
Both are color units w/ similar displays and an internal GPS antenna. Are the components used in the Lowrance products any different, and if so, worth the extra $$?

Look closely at the description Mr. Sorenson, generally the differences will be in wattage, or special features that the Lowrance offers, that the Eagle doesnt. It's sometimes hard to tell where the difference are, but they're definitely there.

I think another thing that makes them different is in the memory. Lowrance has it, not sure if the Eagle models do.

I noticed the difference in peak to peak power (1500 vs 2400 watts), but even that really does not make much of a difference for the depths I routinely fish. I'll look closer at the features, etc.

Kent-
It's kind of the same as the differences between Chevrolet and Cadillac.
They both work and will do what you need.
It's just more power/bells/whistles on the more expensive ones.
As far as power goes, you can never have enough, even if you are not fishing deeper waters. I think it also helps with target differentiation too.

The newer Lowrance units 2005 and newer with the blue connectors allow networking such as running multiple GPS off of one anntenna along with many other capabilities. The Eagle units are not networkable.

I to would have to agree with all things said here. I bought a X-20 last spring and compared it to an Eagle. The biggest difference was wattage and pixel count. Some other minor things also like depth reading capabilities but that has to do with how much wattage you have But there is a difference, they wouldn't make two different units for two different prices if there wasn't a difference in units. Because I think most know, Lowrance owns Eagle so...just my .02.

sorno, the only difference on the lower end units is wattage. When you step up, memory, and hookups change as well. I run an Eagle right now due to the fact that when I bought it, I was in a jam for cash. i love the thing and it does pick up bait quite well when fishing suspendos, though I use it for depth and weed purposes mostly. It is a Fishmark 320, and a sweet unit for the money. It replaced the old Eagle Ultra Classic that my dad now runs. I am upping to a GPS unit this season, and am thinking seriously about the Lowrance this time, but would consider the Eagle. Fishing nearly every day of the season the past three years with it, i have not had a lick of trouble(knock on wood) and it has performed very well, showing the things I was looking for. There are times that I would like more wattage for bottom content etc, but the 320 pixels is plenty.
