If this information was mentioned I apologize. What "must have" trap colors and sizes to bring to the cave run outing that will satisfy any condition we may run across? Is the 1 oz. size big enough?

Let em go, Let em Grow!!

1/2 and 3/4 oz traps in orange crawdad works best.

I've got some big ounce and a half jobs, one in firetiger (furtigr in Ky.) and one red and white. Think its worth bringing them along? m

Personally I think that you crank them in so fast that the color is secondary....once they bump bottom + you snap the rod the rest will be a blur.[:sun:]

One more ? What type line do you use for Rat-L-Trap? I have a 6000CB reel that is geared the same as a C4 Picked up a new rod for the 3/4 oz lures but don't know about the line [:)]

Tech, some of the locals use P-Line Mono...not sure what lb. test though....I rigged a couple up w/ 7 strand leaders + plan on using 50-65lb. Power Pro....maybe 30lb. Magna Thin...[:sun:]

I wouldn't get too wrought up over color for rattletraps, a basic selection of silver, white, chartreuse(bright yellow not on the green side) and orange if you like or flor. orange, or both. Generally in this lake their are clarity variations that will lend themselves to different colors. If its murky I would stay with whatever shows up best.

My personal choice for the rattle trap thing would be lighter than what most of you sound like you're gonna be throwing. The biggest problem I have always had with smaller baits for muskies on musky tackle is not hooking fish, its unhooking fish because there is not enough give in a heavy rod and a no stretch line, it will rip the bait right out of them.

I have tried the bigger traps and I don't think bigger means better in this case. The half and 3/4 sizes are the classics. The bait you are imitating in the Cave will be similar to this size, and bright silver sides.

Look for me with a medium 7 footer bass action, 14-17 lb test mono(yes) and 6 to 10"
20 lb. leader(check the crimps and get rid of the snaps). If I am actually throwing the SOBs I will probably have on a chrome black back, with white where half the chrome is beat off-mainly because I am too lazy to change it and I am happy with white too, and now it has both.

Get them at Walmart or the flea market and try and keep it under $3.50 a bait. And if a certain color looks pretty, go ahead and buy it, it might be the hot one.
