The electrician was here today and was one fitting away from completeing the room, but it didn't match the old crap coming out of the ground. Then I just have to install one 4'x4' panel with insulation and it'll be go time.
Yesterday I insulated the ceiling, fired up Mr Heater for 45 minutes with the door closed....there is a 4" gap at the bottom of the door....turned the exhaust fan on and it got up to 80 degrees in there with 25 mph NW winds blowing. I double-dipped almost 100 small bodies and looked at the thermometer and it was still 68!
He'll be back tomorrow afternoon, so I should be laying paint on lures by Saturday.
Are pearl and Shad patterns good for you guys that are fishing right now? Maybe pearl with some metal flake, or a mother of pearl pink/purple chameleon? Send me your secret color selections.
You guys that e-mailed me about requests, now is the time to inquire in earnest. PM me or e-me and let me know what you want. Same with you guys from SE Wisconsin who were requesting smaller lures.
Going to do all of the smaller lures first so they are ready for spring, then on to the Perkas.
Also will be doing steam-lined 7,8 and 9"ers and some beefy 10"ers for fall.
Feels good to have a place to work. Best part is I set up two stations so I can work sitting down or standing up, depending on the day.
Watch the buy/sell/swap board in the next week or two.

The door is hung, and even though there is still some construction debris laying around, I couldn't resist and spent the last day and a half painting lures. I did the first 20 all in different shad type pattern so the boys who are fishing now will have something to play with. I did the shads with 2 new chameleon colors, so they have a very subtle purpleish blush on the sides with some fine silber scale, and the upper portion has a chameleon that changes from green to gold. Kind of a very nice emerald effect.
Watch the buy/sell/trade board. These are almost all the new streamlined Perkette model, and some blugill shaped bodies...like threadfins? I found 25 bodies on e-bay, and did half of them in shad. As soon as I clear coat them, I'll get some pictures of them out in the sun so you can see the new color shifting effects.
Feels good to be painting again.
You guys that sent me lures to repair/repaint will have to wait a couple of weeks so I can make enough lures to help pay for the new studio.
Heat, ventilation, and a locked door....who could ask for more????
Still have to do the E-Texing in the house. Can't keep it heated all night unless I'm going to sleep out there. That day might be coming pretty soon too.
