Read it close. The fish was foul hooked. Very nice fish and CPR!

They were saying it may still qualify for the record...all i know is that it's one huge fish. I like how he said he can get a plastic replica.

What a PIG, the sad part is they gave the Name and general location of that 100 Acre lake now unless it's a private lake the fishing there will be ruined,

as far as World Record status it was foul hooked so it should not count

That particular lake has been a bass magnet ever since they let people fish it. It's already VERY popular. how do you get a replica made when it's the biggest bass ever caught? Don't they need an actual fish for the mold?

Good for him is right! If I were in his shoes I'd like to think I would handle it the same way, but I don't know...$$$. Congrats to those guys!

Those guys are fishing those small San Diego lakes several days a week looking for the next World record. They even had a chapter about them in " Sowbelly"The obsessive quest for the next World Record largemouth bass by Monte Burke 2005. It's a real good book about the fishermen and bait makers in California along with a guy in Alabama and Cuba. I personally will give him the credit - seeing that the old record was documented as well as the Muskie record. He should have had a certified scale in his truck or the state should have had one at the rental office seeing there have been a few Bass over the 20# mark caught there in the last few years. You have to remember they had to fish out of a small rental boat in that lake and it had no livewell. NICE Fish !!!

I lived in San Diego and know where the lake is although I never fished it. I would defintely say that that lake is ruined now as people will flock there. I would assume though that after spawning, the fish will lose quite a bit of weight if it hadn't already released its eggs. Even if they accept his catch, people will make every effort to try and catch that fish again.

Hat's off to those guys for releasing!!! However, I don't think it could be considered for a WRB because it was released. Who's to say a weight wasn't dropped down there first? Not saying that happened at all .... but, considering what Louie did with the "Hayward record musky" the possibity of having weight added to the stomach contents is too much of a possibilty .... all WR's in the weight division should have their stomachs checked IMHO.

Also, Considering nobody believes in the Spray record anymore (except Hayward?) it should not be considered a world record anymore by us, rather just a "Hayward record".

I wonder if that fish has implants like every other female in California?

Heard that a state record musky was caught and released in Stephens Lake near Beckley W.Va. Catch can not be confirmed because when the fish was caught , the lake dropped so much that the boat could not be put on the trailer and had to be turned loose without being weighed.........

Beat that one!!
