Location: Des Moines IA | I'm looking into getting a new X Heavy 7 1/2 or 8 footer for HRs and Mag Dawgs, which rod do you use and why? Also 6:3:to1 or 5:3to1? |

| I like Lamiglas for rods you can get at a store, or else I like Thornes Customs. You tell them what you want and want to use it for and they will make it for you. Custom wraps and your name on it. |

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I use tons of Mag Dawgs as well as large gliders like HR's and Musky Snax.
My rod of choice: Professional Edge 8 foot heavy Diamondback.
Best rod I have found to throw these large lures. |

Location: Michigan | I like the Professional Edge Diamondback also, I have a 7.6 heavy that's great with the big stuff.

Location: Des Moines IA | Ok, well it seems I stumbled across a Lami 7'6 Ex Heavy, but what speed reel? 6:3 or 5:3? |

| 5:3 with a power handle...mike the high gear ratio reels just do not hold up well and will really tire you out throwing dawgs with them...Ben |

| I prefer the Calcutta TE or Abu 7000. You will love the Lamiglass. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I have a 7'6" Lamiglas heavy that might just do the trick. I'd got with a Garcia in the 6500 size, with a power crank. Will give you the power to throw those big baits all day long, and the speed (if you keep the reel full with line) to keep up with big gliders.
Going to order a new jerkbait rod this weekend, so you can have mine at a good price. |

| Ooops, screwed up the other post.
If you're into custom stuff, I strongly suggest you check out Sean and Scott Bermingham--Dadson's custom rods. Others may disagree, but I'll go out on a limb and say they make the best custom rods around. Fit and finish are spectacular and they perform flawlessly. They were at the Chicago show in January and will be at the Extreme this weekend. If you can't be there contact me and I'll get you a number. They aren't cheap, but they are amazing. Pick one up and you'll know what I mean.
I own several and my next will be an 8' Heavy on a D-back blank that they designed specifically for Mag Dawgs and big baits. (They can build lots of others, though.)
Like I said, if you're into custom stuff, these are the guys to contact. |

| I will second Dadson rods...I have 5 with a sixth on th way. They are worth the extra 20 or so bucks over the other customs out there...They will explain the rod building tech. that separate their rods from the others...give them a shout...Ben |
