| Had lunch with my son today and a guy at the restaurant showed us a photo of a very chunky 50" musky he caught through the ice on a Vilas county lake this January. The guy was fishing for perch with a waxie and jig and unbelievable as it may seem the musky grabbed it. He just had it nipped in the corner of the mouth and the fish cooperated and swam right up the hole. Fortunately the guy took a couple quick photos and let her go. |

I was at a resort in Vilas Co. many moons ago ( Pre Catch & Release ) when a guy comes in with a very fat 54 incher that he caught while Walleye fishing, he got the beast on a jig and minnow what got me POED was that he said " I don't see what's so tough about catching Muskies I got one and was not even trying"
Sometimes life just is not fair

| I can remember when I was a hot young Musky fisherman full of myself big ego and everything else that went with it. I'd see one of those pictures in the paper and call my partner and say " Did you see that fish some minnow dunker got" I guess I thought only MUSKY fisherman could catch them. Thank God I've changed. I was lucky enough to run into a very nice 48" fish while jigging for Walleyes 2 years ago. Light tackle 6# test and one of my hand tied jig flys. I love to catch them on purpose, but this fish was really special. |

Location: Fishing the weeds | My fishing partner and I always seem to boat a few while fishing Bass tournaments in the spring and fall. He got 2 over 50" last year on spinnerbaits and I got 1 46" fishing a Lipless Crankbait. I've almost got him convinced to give up all that Bass fishing and come over to the dark side. Pat |

Location: oswego, il | Pete, the last two illinois record muskies were caught on a jig and minnow and a minnow and a bobber. I figure a doughball or a chicken liver will catch the next one! |
