The first one or two threads on the lower gear housing are srtipped and the nut wont grab with the washer on.
So I was wondering if I could replace the washer with teflon tape or should get a nut thats a 1/16 bigger to make up the diffrence of the washer.

not sure how your situation applies, but there has to be some way to remove the bolt and replace it.

What kind of motor is it, and where is the bolt located?

I would go that route first. Better to play safe in the long run. Taht washer is there so you when the nut is tightened, it will not dig into the housing. All too easy to over tighten on aluminum.

you might get away with just the bolt for a quick fix, but in the long run, better to do the bolt.

dude, I would NOT use teflon tape. Imagine even a bit of that stuff getting into the gear oil and then...
And, how long would it last and how would you know?
If you can get a longer bolt and it will hold oil, that is your best bet, otherwise you may have to rethread and that would not be a job I'd do myself knowing the little I know. good luck with it, m
