I was just wondering if the new crestliners still have the problem of the screws and nuts vibrating out while trailering. I currently own a 99 1750 fish hawk and after using locktite on the loose ones,I still find new ones almost every time I tow my boat long distances. I want to upgrade to an 1850 fish hawk but I dont know if I want deal with the loose stuff again, especially with the price of new boats anymore. thanks Bill

I had a 2001 1750, I was always tightening screws. Next boat was a 2004 1850, it was much better, but still had to once in a while.

I think I solved the loose screw problem this year when I ordered my new Tuffy!

I had an 1850 last year, and never had any problems with the screws coming loose.

They are great boats.

I have screws start to thread out after towing or bouncing around on the lake. Seems to be the same few problem one's. Only like 2 or 3 that do this. Not a big deal for me.

If it's the same beasts over and over again...why not add a lock washer and use Loc-Tite. There's two kinds...a red and a blue formula. Can't remember which is which off hand for sure....but I'll take a stab and say that the blue formula is the stronger of the two.

I also have a 1750 Crestliner. I have not noticed this being a problem however. Which nuts and bolts are you seeing that tend to loosen up you? That way I can keep my eye out for the same things. Thanks.

Best way to keep the screws from backing out is to put some silicone in the hole, and then screw it back in. I never had success with Locktite on these screws.

Just an FYI, Red is more permanent, Blue is for anticipated removal of the fastener.

I'll second what Shep said about the silicone... Works well.

Locktite Red usually requires heat to break it loose.

Mack, Ive had a number of screws vibrate out. After I fix one, it seems another one is sticking up. Ive also had numerous little nuts find their way onto the bottom of the boat, many of which I have not found where they are from. The throttle also came loose, which was not very fun to retighten. I have talked to 3 other 1750 owners who have had this same problem, so keep an eye on it. There is nothing worse than bieng out in 3 footers with your throttle assembly not attached.

Figures...I'd take a guess and guess the wrong one of the two. LOL! 50/50 guess and I guess it wrong every time. Just like back in the day in school on True or False tests.

Wow. I'll have to watch for that stuff. I've only had my Crestliner since last Aug or Sept. So...not a real long time. Thanks for the heads up.

I have a 2000 1750 and I also had a problem with the the throttle becoming very loose. It was a pain in the butt to fix too.

........ if airplanes were made like crestliners, they would NOT be flying.

Something to be said for rivets eh?
