Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Might as well throw the Spastic Nitro in the mix too....same principal I've tossed this and love it. Easy to work and the tail does'nt seem to hinder the action.

| I have both and the Treat is easier to work and "darts" side to side better than the squirrelly phantom in my opinion. Treat has a smaller profile and longer tail. Can't go wrong with either though |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Treats' baits ROCK! I've been working on one that had a weight problem and it seems under control now. Still, the favorite bait in my box.
I've not used a sq. Phantom, the sq. burt I used wasn't much, neither was the squirko (although I saw a big fish come in on one).
I like the rubber tail baits that hawg seekers has come up with, I need a bit more time with them, though. You don't really get a glide out of the Teasers I used last week, but the tail imparts a lot of action to the overall bait.
I've also used a hitchhiker to attach grubs to crankbaits. It slows the bait down a bit and increases the wobble. m |

| Twas hoping to be able to make the comparison, but unfortunately couldn't pull meself away from the Carolina game and lost the TREATS bid. Be careful using a hitchhiker to attach those stingers Mikie; I'd think it'd be safer to use someone you already know. |

| Squirrely Phantom - why? Cause they're readily available. |

Location: Collegeville Pa | The Muskie Treats is hands down the best gliding plastic tailed bait that I have thrown/seen. It has a great glide and deadly wobble on the pause. Absolutely my number 1 go to bait for fall/winter/spring fishing. For that matter it is the best overall glider, plastic tail or regular body, in my opinion.
Be careful on the tail as the make of plastic grub and amount of body rubber will definitely affect the action in terms of glide.

| Wellses,
Just so youses know, I ran into the Muskie Treats at Thorne Brothers yesterday and he has a fresh batch of these lures ready for sale at the Blaine Musky Expo.
When I asked him what are the show prices, I replied to his answer: up, up, up and up...
Never confuse the similarities in looks to the needed toughness in construction because when Ms Piggy comes calling, you don't want the lure to be the missing link.
I always prefer to know what lures catch the 55 plus inchers, 40 plus pounders...

Location: Athens, Ohio | Sponger, wiser words were never spoken.
Last time I picked up a babe hitch hiker, she moved in and I married her (true story).
DD- it is my understanding that a 50 incher has yet to be landed on a Treats. By all outward appearances, though, I'd say that the bait's ability to handle the fish would be the LEAST of my concerns. It would be a question of my own ability, that bait is built like a brick outhouse. m

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Fishwater, I've got 130 that should be ready by Monday. Some are going to the show and some I'll post here. Those include the introduction of the "Double Deep" Muskie Treat. The prototypes I made last year ran 6-10' down on a medium glider retrieve. Mag Treat blanks are in and will be the next batch of baits once all the regular ones cure. Hopefully they're be available for Blaine (may be a bit sticky though).
The problem I've had in the past is that they took too long to make. I'm having a CNC shop make my blanks now so my run rate has increased 3x. I still need to improve my process a bit, but it's a heck of a lot better then it used to be. The baits are also much more consistant then before as well. Just tough working, being a dad, being a MI Chapter Pres, finishing off my house, fishing, and trying to spend some time with my family, oh yeah and fishing too and then getting around to making baits.
I appreciate the great feedback from all. My oppinion: they're both good, buy lots of both!!!
Sponger, drop me a PM and we'll see what we can do. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Mikie- come on now, screwing tails on hitch hickers????????? I just don't believe you would go there!
I've got an original handmade "Muskie Treat", it's one of my favorite "other manufacturer" lures. Awesome fun to fish.
