Location: Madison, WI | I'm looking to purchase a tackle box, finally have enough lure laying around the house that i need to get them in a central location. Any suggestion? I'm not looking for a huge tote, maybe something that can hole 20-25 baits. Anyone use the musky jr. made by lakewood? Or the upright model... Another resource might be a bunch of plano boxes. But i don't think some lures would fit in a plano. Any input would help. Thanks

Location: Edina, MN | I use a bunch of 3700 Planos to sort baits. I don't bring them all every trip. Then a Lakewood Monster for big baits and to dry baits after I have used them before returning to the 3700's. I put the really big baits in a bucket when I pull them out. Buy the biggest box now or you will be buying another soon. The smaller Lakewoods don't hold many baits. The monster is also nice to stand on. |

Location: Des Moines IA | I have a lakewood, and I would suggest the Dunwright. It's clear so you can see what's inside, and I think it's constructed better. After time destoys my Lakewood, I'm switching to Dunwright. |

I have the big Dunwright and love it. It doesnt hold the real big stuff, but you can get a mag dawg or ten inch jake in there no problem.
Being able to take the trays out and store them on the outside rocks too.
Just dont buy the spinnerbait trays. They dont work all that well.

Location: Madison, WI | Dunright is alittle bit far outta my price range, Looks like a great product. I'm only looking to spend no more than $70. We have 2 sedans in the family and there's no way that i can fit a tote in one of them with how the wife packs. |

Location: Madison, WI | How are the plano's for bait storage? Can you fit most of your average baits in there? I'm thinking about getting the Jr. and couple planos.

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Last year I started using the Cabela's Storm Proof Tackle Bag and like it. The extra-large size came with nine 3700 plano boxes for $75. I usually fill it with 6 or 7 planos, rain gear, release tools, and snacks. The plano boxes work well for me however the largest baits I bring are supertopraiders and 10" jakes. Can't fit the magdawgs and really big stuff very well. Also best to let baits air dry before putting them back in the planos. I tried to cut and paste the weblink below, hope it works.

Location: New Baden IL | Magruter,
I use both Lakewoods boxes and Plano 3730's. I really like both of them for different reasons. The lakewoods can haul everything, up to a 13" Grandma, but are heavy, and usually in the way in the boat. The Plano boxes are great to be able to see what you are taking, they hide well (from the wife, or under the deck) and they will carry baits up to 11" or so. The only bad thing about them is that they will break, most of mine are missing one latch but still close.
I can put 2 or 3 in a backpack when I'm doing some wading and have 20 baits with me pretty easy. They are deep enough that all of my release tools fit in one too, so that is a nice feature.
Hope this helps,

Location: So. Illinois | I make my own boxes by filling a portable plastic hanging file box with PVC downspout cut to length. Baits hang vertically and the box has vent holes. I purchase the folder box at Walmart for under 10 bucks. Photo posted at:

Location: Central Iowa | I use a bunch of plano boxes, and although they do work they are very annoying. A lot of bigger baits like weagles, DDD's, globes, etc force you to cut away some plastic to get them to fit or the hooks have to be in some magic position to fit, which is about impossible to figure out sometimes. I like the hanging file box with pvc tubes, that's a good and cheap idea. |
