| I'm looking for a used 25 horse motor and I am just curious as to what questions one should ask to get a good idea of how good of shape the motor was kept in. Hours? Lower Unit lube changed regularly? Cold weather running? I'd like to get a good list for when I come across one.

| 51`er,The main thing I would ask about is how many times the prop has been repaired or replaced.If you are getting used props with the motor?Skeg messed up?This is an indicator of a beat motor and would shy away from those problems,cause all the prop damage travels up into the motor!Hours mean alot less on a well taken care of motor.Is the other person being honest?I got a 25merc once with spare props and thought I was gettin a deal!What a piece of junk and a waste of money,never made the season and lost a ton of money on a trade!Hope that does not happen to you!BUYER BEWARE!
