Location: Ogden, Ut | I tend to consider any non-production (i.e., basement makers) bait a 'custom'. Even though I may not have commissioned it's manufacture, paint job, etc. I still feel that there's few enough of them around to warrant a 'custom' moniker. Therefore, I have a few of my favs that I still consider custom even though I know there's a few out there that are just about like them. Plus, I have a couple that weren't custom for me, but I have since aquired them from the original owner, those are cool too. If I were to list them it would go something like this...
Perka in carp color, one of the first MOJO Weagles in perch, one of the first XXX bucktails, a wood prototype of each a baby Weagle and baby Wabull, a pink bumblebee Castor and a newly repainted Muskie Treat. There's something about fishing w/ a lure that you know has had that much passion involved in it's creation. Kinda just makes things 'right' when you use it.

| I would like to echo the praise for the Perka - fast or ridiculously slow . . . it gets 'um to GO! (can't wait for the plastic tail Perka this summer) |

| Tie! My Durst painted DDD ALSO signed by Dick Pearson (thanks Toe and Steve!) and that gazillion inch Jake-like crank made by that dude who is "Lunker Bait Co.".
I keep using that DDD, though I've been told to hang it on the wall. I use the huge Lunker crank to threaten people who are beating me at drunkin' darts in my own house. And to impress the chicks. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Beav's Castor is a big favorite, that bait will turn on a dime and hang, hang, hang. The Nemo color scheme works well in the waters I fish, too.
I own three muskie treats and one magnum, that bait has moved a lot of fish for me. m |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | For me it's my firetiger "Muskie Treat" She's a one of a kind, i.e., hand made, hand painted. A primitive work of art from someone who was just starting to produce a custom designed lure. Like ToddM says sometimes, "It dance's like a stripper in need of cash". I don't want to know how ToddM know's that!
Have fun!

Location: north central wisconsin | Some of my Rylures are irreplaceable. Just plain works of art that I could not describe in words. Most importantly works of art that catch alot of fish. Wicks lures are right in there topwater wise, as are Evs lures, and Garrett Teschs baits.
I love some of my custom Nitros, and would not trade them for anything. I have several of the same size and color that all act differently in the water, and I need them all.
Dursts paint jobs are on almost half of the lures I run now, simply awesome work!!!
My buddies spinnerbaits(GP Thumpers) have really come into their own this past season, and he will be taking custom orders for them this year.
Baitmakers inlines are the best ones i use too. I can take him any production bucktail that i want modified, and he will make one 'just right' for me every time.
Custom lures rock!! |
