| So, I'm sharpening hooks this winter, and I have a few 5/0 iron hooks that are rusty because they were around some road salt (don't ask).
Anyways... is there a way to take the rust off?

| Replace them. Why take a chance? If they've been around salt. thay are probably pitted besides rusty.
I have lot's of 5/0 Mustads that I'm willing to part with.

| Replace them. And after you sharpen your new hooks, paint the exposed metal with a (red) permanent marker to prevent corrosion. |

| Red permanent marker ayyyy? Does that last for a while? pretty neat idea, kind of sick of hooks rusting after it rains out and all your stuff gets wet, not to mention being fished and put away wet. Red though. |

| You know those little packets of silica gel #*#* you get in the box when you buy a camera or a new pair of shoes? I toss them all in my tackle box along with those rust inhibitor strips. So far it really seems to work pretty well and keeping my hooks from rusting. |

| A little WD-40 and a rag can work wonders. I don't know about the salt thing though, you might wanna just replace those ones. I have tryed sharpie on hooks before but it's a pain and then it bleeds all over your bait and will ruin it. Whenever my hooks rust, I just sharpen them  |
