| I have had a 3 bank 30 amp Minnkota for about 2.5 years. I run the trolling motor (24V)and electric downriggers (one downrigger per battery 12V) off the 2 deep cycle batteries. I have put the batteries and the charger to the test on multiple occasions. With good results. I leave the starting battery on the 3rd connection so it is always topped off. The only problem I had was (which I don't think is the fault of the charger) is when I had a dead short in the starting battery and it showed "charged" on that bank. All in all, I like mine.

| I have a 2 banker on the boat at the cabin..I've had it like 5 years..still works fine....I do think that guest and dual pro possibly make the best chargers....but minn kotas seem to be a good deal....3 yr warranty is great to have |

Location: Minnesota | Minnkota makes a decent charger but has had some issues with weak channelsa or charging circuits. The Dual-Pro is by far a superior unit and is the ONLY one that will shut off completely when the battery or batteries are fully charged. A trickle or residual charge is not good for batteries as it will shorten there "burn time". |

| Captnkeno, that is why I do not use a Dual Pro charger. Once a battery has been recharge and drained several times they may never get to 100% charge but 98%. There was a summer when I got my dual pro that it burned up the batteries on my boat so I took it back. The next charger work for the rest of the year then during the winter cranked the charge on them and by spring I had to buy another set of batteries. I also had a guest charger on anoher boat and had good luck with it, so I replaced my other dual pro with guest. After I got the new guest on my one boat, the guest on my other boat carped out after 5 years. I called guest and sent it in with a big box of candy, and they sent me back a new chrger.
Geust has great customer service I'd go with them.

i was always led to believe a trickle charge was good. that a good charger, would trickle down and keep your batteries maintained. |

| John I have always thought and heard the same thing!! It's the 10 amp kick that kills batteries not the trickle charge and the constant up and down with a fast bring back(quick charge)is what kills batteries! IF you fish alot and can offord the biggest and best batteries you should have no problem using a trickle charge every night and you should have 100% full charge everymorning. I know I do I use Interstate Batteries and use a 24v 74lb thrust minn kota autopilot and it has ran flawlessly with these batteries for 4 years charging this way all day every day! Also one more helpfull hint if your batteries aren't holding a long charge, CHECK THE ACID LEVEL!!! |
