| Hi Guys:
I'm thinking about upgrading my electronics this year..I'm looking at high end units, came into some extra cash. What do you all think or know about the Humminbird 987c SI/GPS unit versus the Lowrance 111hd. I was originally in favor of the Humminbird for the side imaging sonar, but now I'm not sure. Which is better unit overall. I fish mainly wisconsin lakes/river, and Leech 1-2 times a year. I think the HB only takes Navionics chips, are they better than the Lake master? I thought I read somewhere thar lakemaster was better...
Sorry about so many questions.
Thanks for any advice

I purchased the X-20 last spring and I absolutely loved it. My thoughts are to you are that the Lowrance -111c is in my opinion over kill unless your planning on fishing tournaments. The X-20, X-25, or the X-26c will do very sufficiently if you ask me. The only two major advantages of the 111 is the screen size at 10.4' compare to 7' on the X-25 and X-26, but the X-20 comes with a 6' screen and less pixels. Also the 111 has 600 x 800 pixels, the X-25 and X-26c are 480 x 640. The X-20 is even a little less but still for the money extremely good. I don't get into the tournaments to much and haven't had the need to for something that big, plus it will take up a lot of room on your dash/bow. Thats my opinion, plus now the X-20, 25 and 26c are being marked down just about anywhere you go. You also might look into the new Lowrance LMS 334c and the LMS 339c, they have the built in internal antenna, that is going to be one nice feature! But whatever you decide I would hands down go with Lowrance, they are the leaders and if you need customer service for anything, they are one of the best! | |

| Also the Lowrance 111 has a 20 gig hard drive with some maps preloaded on there. My buddies have been telling me good things about the Humminbird. It is something new to get used to though. | |
