Many thank yous go out to everyone on this board! I am completely BLOWN over by how everyone has pulled together to help a little boy that they have never met! Special thanks to Steve Cady for the wonderful tasks you have taken upon yourself to help my grandson. You may say you are just a fisherman, I know you are a true gentleman. It takes a very special person to do all you have done for my family. More special thanks go to Steve Worrall, without you generosity and foresight, this wonderful outpouring would never have been possible. You have touched my heart in many ways and I can never thank you enough, you also are a true gentleman and I think of you often. Special thanks to all the people behind the scenes, the MuskieFirst.com crew and all the well-wishers, you really are a very caring group of anglers and you will always have a soft spot in my heart for all the effort and thoughts you have sent our way. My thank you seems so insignificant compared to all the combined efforts of everyone that has been there during my family's time of need. God Bless You All.

Just a little update on my grandson. Ashton is doing wonderfully. I have never seen my grandson as happy as he is today. At four months of age, he has weathered a lot, but he is finally happy! During the interim of his birth and first surgery, he was always being poked and prodded by doctors and nurses. My daughter always had to clean his gums twice a day and put in a special retainer to spread his jaws so his premaxilla (front jaw) would fit between his side gums (his jaw is in three sections). Then she had to put tape across his lips to hold them together and to help push his premaxilla in, so that his first surgery could ultimately be done. It was always hard for them, my daughter and Ashton, as she had to struggle to do this as quickly as possible while causing him as little discomfort as she could. For him his little face was always puckered up and he always had this awkward piece of plastic between his jaws, so he would struggle against my daughter doing what needed to be done to help him in the long run. Now, for the first time in his life, he is comfortable! He has a reprieve from being poked and prodded. His face is healed to the point where he is no longer in pain, and his arms are no longer restrained. He can now hear and what wonderful sounds he is starting to make. He is one very happy little boy!! He has such a happy little shriek now as he smiles, that it can't help but warm this grandma's heart. What a treasure it is to see him happy finally!!!

None of this would have been possible without everyone on this board! So thank you again, and I am trying to get some pictures to Steve Worrall so he can get them up on the site, so everyone can meet the little boy that inspired such an outpouring of love and such an astounding effort by such a great group of people as you all are!!!!!

From the Bottom of My Heart,

Jody Holbrook []

glad to hear that muskygodess! It sure is great to read that he feels better now. I'm amazed too when I see how much response there is from everybody on the board. Not because I never expected it (this site makes everybody feel welcome) but everybody has been so generous!! All for one little guy we have never met, heck I haven't even met one of you guys!

Keep us informed Muskygodess and all the best!

Day in and day out I see very sick people including children and nothing helps a sick person or their loved ones more than a kind ear to listen and kind words to lessen the anxiety and emotional stress. The money that has been raised is a tremendous gift to Ashton's family that only a group of completely addicted, obsessive compulsive, muskie angler could do. It's nice to see that all of us are cognitive of what people with illness have to contend with and not with just ourselves. Thank you to everyone for kindess.

Jeff....I'm not sure if you realized it but the bids for item #11 spilled onto a second page. Yours was the last bid on the first page but Steve Cady bid $130 nearly an hour before the auction closed (at 6:04pm). This starting of a 2nd page by the computer probably caused the confusion if one didn't look real close. There were only a few items that did go for more than one page. I was on most of the last hour and remember updating all the items in that hour and Steve's post was there. You should probably drop him an email and get the thing straightened out.

Have a Great Day,
BrianW
