Gateway sent us a thing saying they are going w/ AOL+ sent a disk to change over..... PROBLEM: wife says to check around as it often takes along time to log on w/ AOL..any ideas as to a reliable server? I was going to go w/ Adelphia Cable but they are 39.95 per mo. + I only use this thing for this stuff + my wife sometimes works from the house so I don't need anything too involved....thanks, Rik

Rik,

We have AOL and it sucks. I just can't talk my wife into switching to a cable line. She has her Mary Kay business all set up and I have my guide business all set up with our AOL e-mail address. I am still working on it though. There have been nights where it has taken me 45 minutes to an hour just to log on. Nights I couldn't update my website. Nights where I would be typing in responses to the board and I would get kicked off. Enough whining............. If you can swing a better connection, I would definitely do it!

Best of luck!

Spongebob, we`ve got Road Runner. It comes in through the cable TV line and it`s faster than lightning. It`s about $40 a month, but I`ve got a daughter that uses it all the time and my wife can use it for work so it`s worth it. I quit using my computer at work to visit this site and others because I just can`t wait any more. Beav

Rik-
We have ours through a local connection. Started out as MidPlains then was bought out by Chorus. We get it through my wife's work for 9.95 a month with unlimited access.
Have not had any problems with the connections or Cust Serv in 2 years.

Anywho, not that it's available in your area but you may want to check and see if you have any other smaller servers in your area. May be able to swing something that way.

I have MSN and love it. The reason I ended up with MSN is I was in Radio Shack one day to by a case for my cell phone. I notice that if you agree to three years with MSN you get a four hundred dollar shopping spree. I believe for the three years of service it cost about two hundred fifty bucks. Break that down and its diddly per month, and on top of that I ended up getting a nineteen inch monitor with the shopping spree. I can go anywhere with MSN its fairly fast, and they just produced a free download to upgrade the system for its customers. You can recieve messages through your Outlook Express mailbox which means that no message is too big. Beware, though, you will want a virus back up to add onto the MSN one that you get with their service. Thats about all I can tell you, though I do know that AOL is a dog slow service. I do not know where you live, but a lot of times there are local servers that run cheap and are good. I had execpc, out of Milwaukee for a while, but they sold out to Nutscrape which about the same level of service that AOL is. Good luck at finding one, just shop around. Hope this helps.

SpongeBob

Aren't you on here 24-7?[;)] I would think $40/month would be a great deal for fast service! Seriously though, I have cable service and it is by far superior to aol. But then I split the bill with two other roommates so that helps.

Fast internet = faster contest notifications!

I too have MSN and have no complaints. I got it for free for a year when I bought my new Dell computer. If you get on very early or late you will find that you can get on a lot faster. You might try that rather than make a change. However, MSN never seems to take that long. AOL's browser does not always recognize some of the html codes on sites and it's slow.

Thanks for the help.... a girl at work said something about MSn(?) so I'll get the wife to check it out. I want to spend the$$$ for cable but the wife thinks I spend too much time on here as it is since it is her computer + I am just a puppet for her![:blackeye:]
