Hi, I'm headed to LOTW this summer. I've been there and Eagle lake numerous times but have always rented a lodge boat. This year I decided to bring my own.

1.} Do I need any permits or licences to bring my boat into canada?

2.} With those rocky reef type shield lakes is my trolling motor a big concern as far as bumping off rocks? I'd hate to bring my own boat and have the trolling motor get messed up and break on a rock. Last year I saw a guy who brought 3 differant trolling motors with his boat. I never asked why. any advice or experiance with this?

Thanks.

you don't need anything special to take your boat across the border. just common sense with your troll motor is all you need. the outboard is the one to worry about. get a good map and slow down around areas of reefs. the maps are accurate but caution is needed. take an extra prop just in case. water level fluctuation is the biggest concern. reefs that were submerged 3 to 4 feet can be 1 to 2 inches under the surface from year to year. hope this helps! todd
