I have seen so many pictures of large fish from LOTW that I'd like to try fishing there.
Where is the the best area of the lake (prefer not to fish in Canada if I don't have to).
What is the best month to go?
Any recommendations on resorts, guides, etc.?
Thanks.

I would have to say July is the best month for me. I use to feel the same way about Canada but now I am turn around 180 dgrees on it. You would be making a big, big, did I say a big mistake by not fishing up there. It took me 17 years of fishing Wisconsin to get my first 50 inch 30 lb. plus fish, and when I start going to Canada it only took two years to get 52 1/2 incher that went between 37 and 42 lbs. and have gotten a few more over 30 lbs. For resorts it depends on if you want housekeeping or american plan. To shorten the learning curve of the lake I would try one of the muskie schools that Musky Hunter, Hotspots, or Simply Fishing put out, it may cost alittle more but it would be well worth it. Another way would be join Musky Inc., and see if you can make some chapter outings, this how I got to learn the lake. Al[]

Musky Alan,
Thanks for the response. Which of the schools do you think is best, and what is the approximate cost? Thanks.

Dude, check out the responses to my LOTW questions on the Pro's Perspective page, I got lots of good help. If you go to WalleyeCentral.com's message page, there's an ad banner for Sunset Country. Fill out htat form and you'll get swamped (in a good way) with e-mails and mail borchures about resorts. Check out also the NW Angle of Minnesota, lots of nice places. Send me an e-mail if you still have questions, I hoping for next July. m

The Musky Hunter goes for about $1050.00 per person for a week, the Simply Fishing (Bob Mesikomer) goes for about $1200.00, and the fishing HotSpots went for $800.00. These are American Plans. If they seem to high go the way I went and that is with Chapter Outings from the Muskie Inc. chapters, just pay for some beer( I am just kidding)for info, I have had no problem having people share info and they are willing to help you out.
