how many yards of line do you need on a casting reel? right now i have been putting a thin layer of
mono on then putting about the whole 150 yard spool of power pro of cortland spectron on my
6500 c3s. how much line do i really need? Should a 150 yard spool be used for 2 or more reels? any
tips would help. thanks

I think you're doing just fine. I find that my reels perform best (less backlashes) when there's about 1/16" of empty space on the spool. Even then that's pushing it. I think you'd be skimping if you tried to fit 150 yards on two reels.

I fill my spools at little more than 3/4 full of mono and fill the rest of the spool, all the way to the top with my braided line.

I would guess I am probably putting on about 60-70 yards of braided line.

I go with about 75-85 yards....75 yards is over 200 feet...your typical cast might be about 50-75 feet
