Sportsmen's coalition

I have been kicking around the idea of forming a Sportsmen's Coalition for some time. Would it matter to people here if it was a for-profit organization?
My problem is I don't have the time or money to do something like this with out being able to make money at it. The concept screams for it to be not for profit, but the idea I had wasn't really to get charitable donations. I was thinking more about an organization that would give all sporting organizations national support and awareness.
For example: Steve Heiting wants us to help out with a letter writing campaign to get a 50" limit passed on lakes in Oneida County. Through the Sportsmen's Coalition every TU member, BASS member, NRA member, Ducks unlimited member, etc. would be aware of what Steve is trying to accomplish and he would receive many more responses than he is able to do himself. Or, a local TU chapter is trying to get a dam removed out east to open up miles of spawning habitat for Atlantic Salmon. All of the above mentioned organizations would be aware of this and be able to help.
The possibilities are endless. What do you guys think?

Great idea, but a tough undertaking, for certain!

What you describe would require a base operating fund of several hundred thousand dollars to even BEGIN to launch nationally in a manner that would garner the attention you are looking for. It would be a admirable undertaking, but a tough one.

Simply starting a coalition would not guarantee the contacts, networking, or political connections/lobby to 'get things done'. I agree we need a centralized voice, but centralized from what platform, with whom speaking for us all? This is just a tiny sample of the difficult questions you will need to answer.
