Location: Des Moines IA | How would you go about tying 100lb mono to R bend spinnerbaits? I have 3 or 4 ,1/2 oz Terminator spinnerbaits with R bends instead of a loop. Is there any safe way to tie a mono leader directly to the R bend? I know these baits would work wonders on some of the pressured lakes I fish, but would hate to leave 1 in a fishes mouth. Any knots come to mind? Or should I just e-bay them? | |

| Is there a specific reason you want to tie directly to the R bend? I have used some of the standard knots with flouro (Clinch and Palomar) and haven't had any problems. The Clinch knot seems to slide easier for tightening it up but make sure you cinch it down slowly and with a little spit or water on it.
If you're having a problem with the snap riding up or down the wire and fowling casts, there's a real easy fix. Take a split ring and put the R of the bait through it. Then snap clip the snap on the bait. The split will keep your snap where it's supposed to be. Although, now that I think about it the Terminators are pretty flexible, so that may not be foolproof either. I'd still try it and see how it goes.

What scott said is right on but i do it with 2 split rings put one over the loop and attach the other where you would snap or tie this will hold bolth split rings on. Another way is to put a very small rubber washer over the bend where you tie.
