Does anyone use Accurate reels?? If so, what model?? Do you use it for casting, trolling, or both?? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on some. Anyone?? PM me if you want or email: [email protected]

If I'm not mistaken Accurate Reels are primarily a salt water reel designed for trolling and live bait fishing. I do not believe that they have a level wind on them which would make casting a real PITA!

Reelman,

You are right. They have no level wind, but from what I understand, level winds are for freshwater fishermen. After talking to a ton of saltwater fishermen this week who CAST for snook, marlin, sails, wahoo, etc, NONE of them have level winds on their reels. I was suprised. They said it only takes a few hours to get used to thumbing the line back and forth.

But I was going to use these reels for trolling because of their dual drag systems, you can really tighten down the drags on big lures (13" + baits) and get really smooth drag pulls. They claim 28 pounds of drag and at whatever speed of line peeling off the reel, +/- 1 pound!!!!

You may want to ask your question at this site http://floridasurffishing.net/forum/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&foru...

They are quite the bunch of surf casters on this site and if I remember correctly they generally recomend a level wind for cast and retrieve type fishing. If you are casting live bait ans letting it sit then they like to have a casting frame (no level wind) for the increased distance. Even for trolling on Lake Michigan I would want a level wind. I have used non level wind reels before and they always seem to bunch the line up and create a big mess.

That being said I have never heard a bad word about Accurate reels.

Thanks Reelman!!

Our fishing is so much different than the saltwater boys....it's hard to compare the two. They tried to convince me that a casting frame is perfect for cast fishing. Your input is greatly appreciated.

But to be honest, these Accurate reels would be used for trolling. Not Casting.
