| Art,
I haven't done any research on batteries or battery chargers. I have always used a standard cranking battery for starting and deep cycles for my 24 volt system. I have had two different styles of onboard charging systems. One was a dual pro and my most recent is a Minn Kota. Both had three banks so I could charge all three of my batteries at once. I would never own another boat without having a three bank onboard charger. You plug them in and keep them plugged in so you are ready to go at any given time and never have to worry about you batteries. Well, almost never. As you know, batteries won't last forever so you have to check them periodically to make sure they are holding their charge.
Some of the best people you could talk to are the guys who rig boats at dealerships. One of the best I know is Danny at Southwest Marine in Oak Lawn, IL. He'll give you the straight scoop and tell you what he thinks is best and why. He wasn't really happy when I brought him a Minn Kota to put in my boat but I haven't had any issues with it yet (knock on wood). | |

| The best batteries that I have ever owned were Trojans. Never a problem with those bad boys. I will be buying another set of them this Spring. Let ths last ones go with my boar when I sold it. Look on the net to find a dealer.Let Em Go...Let Em Grow.....Mike | |
