I have a 16 ft. Basstracker with a Humminbird depth finder, the transducer is located on the stern.
I'm considering adding an old Eagle unit i have to the bow and mounting the transducer on the troller.

I've heard that two transducers can conflict with each other. What should I be looking out for when I do this?

Thanks so much, m

Mikie- If they are the same frequency or one is a harmonic (multiple of the fundamental frequency)of the other, you may have a problem, i.e., both 100kHz, or 100kHz and 50kHz. 100kHz is the 2nd harmonic of 50kHz, 200kHz is the 4th harmonic of 50kHz, etc. If the operating freqency of one unit can be divided by the other's frequency and the answer is a whole number, you'll probably have problems running both at the same time.

Better yet get a gimbel mount for the Hummingbird, that way you can see it from anywhere in the boat. Then send the Eagle to me for my 12' airboat! LOL.

Have fun

on my old boat i had two that create interference when in water deep enough for them to hit each other.
but when running the boat from the front, i tended to be only using the front depth finder.
so i turned my one in the back off.

on my new boat i'm planning to start running the boat from the back and using the better electronics from back there most all of the time.

if you really want two on at the same time that don't conflict, look into the frequency issues Al highlighted.

Mikie, I'm running two humminbirds, one on the stern, and the other on the trolling motor. No problems Doug

It also helps to run them off of two seperate batteries.

Thanks, guys. I've got everything hooked up now (I'm always amazed when I connect something and it works!). I like the idea of the two separate batteries but may not be able to do that, since I've jumped over onto the second battery to create my 24v line for the new troller.
My plan now is to get the boat out tomorrow and see what works. I'd like to be able to leave both units on so the guy in in the back can have his own finder, but if that fails I can always shut it off. Al had some good advice but unfortunately I have no idea what the Eagle transducer's frequency is, so we'll go with the old trial and error.

I guess my question should have been worded more like: if the two units do conflict, what would that look like; how would I tell? thanks again, m

on mine i lose resolution, get screen "clutter", and inaccurate depth readings.
it becomes obvious when i turn the other one off and everything improves dramatically.

I have a 16' Tuffy equipped with a 50/200 Dual Freq Raytheon l365 in back usually set on 200dual and a Lowrance X91 200khz in front, never have trouble with either and both are on same battery....
