| looking for the best and most powerful lead acid battery i can use .its for my trolling motor that is a 12 volt 55 lb thrust system.im also curious on what results could i expect from a standard size battery . thanks for any help.......chris | |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Steve- There's a simple rule for lead-acid batteies that many may not be aware of, i.e., "double the ampere/hours = three times the runtime". This means if you parallel a battery with another of the same A/H rating or replace the old one with one thats double the A/H, and the load is the same, you increase the runtime by a factor of three (3).
Some folks equate the battery capacity as being similar to a gas can- it's not. The gas can's have a linear relationship to their physical volume. The battery's relationship to physical volume-weight-A/H capacity is nonlinear.
