Question for you.

We have an excess of $600 in the prize fund for the MuskieFIRST.com outing on Cave Run. We have gotten some extra donations of Rods etc. for the outing too for gifts.

I would like to see everyone have a MuskieFIRST hat or shirt when we are down there. But MuskieFIRST cant really afford that. Would you guys be willing to cut into that $600 prize fund and get hats or shirts for the event. YOUR CHOICE of product.

Just looking for feed back.. Hats would cut into $450 and T-shirts would cut into the prize fun $280. Hats would be easier, then we would not have ask for shirt sizes. The hats are real sharp too.

Everyone going to the outing.. please respond.. I am just brain storming an idea.

A. Hats
B. T-shirts
c. Just prizes.

d. Beer
c. Prizes

That's my opinion. I'd really like to have a hat as well but I will buy that on my own. So bring 30 of them.... We'll still buy them.

Bring hats....like Cady says "bring the hats + they will come".....prizes are always fun...we should have a drawing though as I seriously doubt I'll catch a winning fish; my goal is to beat 33"! At any rate I think we can buy hats/shirts unless you wanted to include a couple of each for a prize....doesn't really matter to me....just getting to see you clowns in person will be good enough for me!!![;)] [:sun:]

PRIZES!!
Bring down hats and sell them there.
I'm sure at some point in the trip everybody will be in the proper mood to buy a hat. Some guys might buy 2.
Use the money for prizes and sell the hats is my vote.

Which hat do you wear?

Jason, I'm assuming that you already have a good pile of prizes.... so I'll break the trend and say cut into the kitty and get us all hats. What's the difference if you buy hats as prizes... or just give everyone a hat as a "gift" for attending?

Have fun deciding....

I am surprised we aren't hearing from more of the crew!

I would think everyone has their fair share of musky gear so I am all for getting everyone a MuskieFIRST hat (even though I already have one - I'll take another - they look good). It would serve as a commemorative item for what should be a weekend of fun and excitement. It is a hat that you would actually continue to wear after the weekend - unlike other tourney hats that end up piling up in the corner of a room somewhere.

Hi Jason,

Here's an idea you probably didn't consider.....

I think you should use the money to buy hats for those of us who are not able to go! After all, we've been quietly watching you guys make your plans and we've been pretty good about not lamenting our poor fortune, but secretly we're crying ourselves to sleep each night. So take pity, share your good fortune and send us each a hat!

Hmmmmm....I'm betting you're not falling for this lame appeal for a freebie hat. So, how do I buy one?

Thanks! And you guys have a great, safe time in KY!!

I think everyone who goes to any of the "Outings" should get something. The "everyone" I'm talking about are the people who are MF members and are staying at the host lodging. Not everyone is an expert Muskie fisherman. If the prizes require you to catch a fish this big to get this prize and do this to get that prize some people are going to be disappointed.

These "Outings" are for everyone to learn from others and hopefully become a better Muskie angler, and hopefully meet some new friends. When the only way you can get a prize is catching a certain size fish some people become a little to competitive. When this happens I think it takes the fun out of a trip like ours.

I would like to see everyone get a free hat or shirt or both, and also have door prizes that can be drawn for. I do not have a problem with prizes for catching fish, but I would like for everyone walk away with something and say "I had a great time".

Great idea dave! That's exactly what is planned...This isn't and never will be about catching more than the other guy...yes some friendly rivalry's will for sure be created, but overall it is an outing. The trophy formerly known as the piganator trophy is for the biggest fish caught. The rest of the prizes will be for extra contest that most likely won't even be on the water....

Example:

5 Gallon bucket is placed 100 ft away. 3 casts to make it in the bucket. If you make it in you get a prize.

Blind folded guessing a bait...(No Hooks)

The goal is to get everyone a prize.

As I said this is about learning from each other.....learning from KY fish...having a good relaxing time with other "Nuts" from around the country. MuskieFIRST outings WILL NEVER be about winning is everything. It will be about fishing is everything, catching is fun.

Bring the T-shirts and hats to the Outing I'll buy one. Pick up prizes, refreshments, food with the extra money. I think a raffle would be great since it doesn't necessarily mean you have to get into fish in order to win something. That way everyone has equal chances of walking away with something.

catch ya later,

I think we should promote the website and the outing, hats to everyone like Dave said, that way everyone gets an MF logo, fish or no fish caught, maybe a choice of hat or t-shirt for attending. What would really be cool is a MF jacket for biggest fish or most (top lunge)or both. Musky Hunter schools present plaques for these awards, they may be cheaper than the jackets. It isn't a high pressure prize, everyone is there to have fun and learn, but yet still worthy of attaining.

This isn't a school. Schools cost alot more. University's even more...and a PHD takes well you get what I'm saying. Jason and I will be getting a schedule of events ready and getting it posted as we get closer to the event!
