I have next week off and was planning on doing some ice fishing but with warm weather I'd rather go open water. Does anyone know if both Webster & Shelbyville are open and fishable?

Shelbyville is open. I'd fish Webster personally though. Looks like there've been a few fish caught out there.

Good reports from Tippecanoe Lake, also!

Nothing big is being caught here in Indiana. Lots of sub legal fish, (30-34 inchers)

So I guess it all depends on what you are looking for.

Well I can't wait any longer, Tonight I'm throwing the batteries back into the boat and getting ready to go to Webster. Man after the TriEssox show in Chicago last weekend I can't stop thinking about throwing some baits. I'm open for suggestion on what to throw and how.

How many fish do you have in the boat this year Hulbert? Any clue what is working on your lakes up there?

As of Sunday morning, 90% of Webster was frozen over. Mike, Al and I went out and broke alot of ice and only one fish to show for our efforts. I must say those Tuffy hulls take a beating without even a scratch.

Why would Matt lie??? Then you are going to call him out with a real name??

I was with him, and yes 90% of the lake was frozen at 7:30 in the morning. It got down to 21 the night before, so things tend to freeze.

By the end of the day 50% of the lake was open.

I have also seen the water temps go from 45 one day, to frozen the next. So yes, it happens.

Most lakes are froze right now...even Tippy. I am looking at Sawmill and it is 90% froze. Tomorrow is bringing 40 degree temps and 20-30 mph winds. Might be back open by the weekend.

People like this anon. Yokel or Jokel or what ever your name is are the reason alot more people don't share info. on this board any more. Had you gotten your butt off the couch and went to the lake you could have seen for yourself. Oh and by the way, I have a name and I stand behind it without hiding behind a computer handle.

Webster was wide open on Saturday (01/21/06) We ended up with 4 fish up to 42 inches. It was a great day on the water.

let me make this more clear....since there seems to be some confusion....

It WAS open on Saturday.

On Sunday it WAS 90% frozen in the morning, and 60% frozen by the after noon

IT IS MOSTLY FROZEN NOW.

The report on Sunday was true the lake in the morning was almost frozen, I was in the boat with Matt and Mike and was the guy who got the fish. We had to do donuts in the small open areas to get it to open up more. I would say by three maybe the lake was 50 to 60 % open. Echo or the eastern bay was frozen, most of the water in front of the resturant was still frozen, and water infront of yellow banks was frozen. The water temps. range from 32.2 to 33.6 degrees. Just for your info., the other guy didn't know what he was talking about.

Ditto on the picture. Very neat!
Slamr, you and Zach should consider using it on the front page for a week or so. "Midwesterners still making waves." or something like that.

Thanks for the comments about the picture guys. We caught two fish on that board so I decided it needed its picture taken. Plus it was a nice ending to a January day. I sure hope it stays warm.
